Today, we highlight the achievements of one of our own and celebrate a truly prestigious honour. 📜
Sgt Wraith was recently awarded the Lord-Lieutenant’s Certificate of Meritorious Service by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, Professor Veronica Pickering OBE MBS HAC. The award recognizes an extensive military career of going above and beyond.
Here is a look back at an incredible 40 years of Full-Time Service, so far:
8️⃣6️⃣ The Early Years: Enlisted into the Regular Army in 1986 as an apprentice electrician in the Corps of Royal Engineers.
🪖 Operational Deployments: Spent over 7 years on operational and overseas deployments, including receiving a British Forces Kosovo Commanders commendation for exceptional service in the Balkans.
🫡 Regimental Duties: Served as the Regimental Operations Support Warrant Officer (WO2) with 73 Engineer Regiment leading on Mobilisation, Recruitment & Welfare until Unit disbandment, thereafter securing a full-time role as the Reserve Sub-Unit Support Officer with 350 Field Squadron in Nottingham.
👨🏫 A True Mentor: In 2021, despite having been selected for Warrant Officer Class 1, he chose to step down in rank to Sergeant to remain in post as the Recruit Mentoring Support Officer. He has lead with the mentorship of upwards of 100 Reservists—guiding civilians into becoming confident soldiers and officers.
🧑🧑🧒🧒 Community Impact: Outside the military, he has served as a School Governor, a STEM Ambassador, and a volunteer mentor for SSAFA, supporting service children with mental or physical impairments.
🎖️Rarity of Service: Having received the second Clasp to his Long Service and Good Conduct (LS&GC) medal in 2022, Sgt Wraith is one of only approximately 100 currently serving Full-Time Other Ranks to hold this rare medallic recognition.
Sgt Wraith has undoubtedly proven himself time and time again to be one of the firmest foundation stones upon which the success of based 350 Field Squadron, 75 Engineer Regiment has been built. 🧱⚙️
On receiving the award, Sgt Wraith modestly shared:
💬 "I’ve been incredibly fortunate to hold the trust of my commanders and the enthusiasm of anyone who steps across our threshold.
The real stars of the show are the pure Reservists, who continue to give their all after a tough time at work, putting bread on the table. They’re the ultimate examples of just how vibrant and inclusive 350 Field Squadron truly is."💬
Please join us in congratulations, Sgt Wraith! 👏
