The rise in heavy makeup use among African teenage girls reflects a desire for self-expression, but it may also signal deeper emotional struggles. In a time when youth mental health issues are increasing, it's important to look beyond appearance and engage teens with compassion and support. Honest conversations, emotional check-ins, and mentorship can help them build confidence and a strong sense of identity from the inside out.

If you're struggling with your mental health and need someone to speak to, reach out.

The evidence of love is in its ability to give joyfully. You can give without loving but you cannot love without giving.

A selfish person does not love. Their focus is on what they stand to gain or loose.

Anyone who claims to have everything figured out is a huge ego trip! People who blame and shame you for being vulnerable and having problems are full of themselves. There's no end to learning and evolving and no one has figured everything out no matter their years of experience, that's the entire purpose of being alive - a journey of continuous learning and growth.

The ego likes to put an end to things so that it can put everything in a box and label it. The more you expect people to be perfect the lesser you make yourself available to the world around you. It is the most judgmental and egocentric way of living. When you remain open to learning you will see deeper truths even in the same experiences because life is spiral, not a straight line.

Keep your ego in check, true wisdom lies in knowing that you know nothing, you're just as imperfect as the others.

***African men, listen!***

It is NOT the responsibility of women to care for your children. Having children with a woman is a shared responsibility and it is very irresponsible for any man to think that they can get away with dumping that responsibility on women especially in our day and time when women work twice as hard as men to support and provide for the family.

Women look after the entire family while performing their duties "effortlessly" at work. So, who looks after these women? WOMEN'S MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS and no they do not have a magic wand to do the impossible. It is a shame how many women suffer from depression and all sorts of post traumatic stress disorders due to stress and abandonment by irresponsible men who think it's the woman's role to look after their children while they move on swiftly and live their lives as they want.

Your fathers in those days did it because they did not know better, you know better today so do better! Our African culture and tradition has over the years groomed some men to be irresponsible in family circles, relegating their role to impregnating and providing basic needs in most cases, and in worse cases providing little or no support to their women and children. It is high time African men start being held accountable for their actions.

We recognize and appreciate you all dads who work hard and support your women on equal terms to look after your kids and each other.

But for those who don't, it is simple- if you know you're not ready to be a full-on dad, stop having s*x altogether. You are either fully committed or you're not at all. Stop punishing women for having a child by you.

Don't do it! If you love someone, set them free and watch them do what they prefer to do. If they are okay with loosing you, STOP FIGHTING. Love is right when you never have to beg for it.

Majority of the problems we think we have because of other people are actually introspective - a result of our own emotional and mental processes. It's not about the other person. If we take our own advice, some problems will not even exist. Stop looking for external causes when the answer lies within you. You see in others what exists in you so before trying to pass the moral blames to other people, take responsibility for your own actions.

I completed a very informative training session on the effects of Early Childhood Trauma in adults and I wanted to share. It is such an eye opener - knowing that a lot of adulthood behavior is as a result of negative childhood occurrences.

According to National traumatic stress network, individuals who have experienced trauma as children are likely to experience stress and anxiety later in life. This long-term stress can cause emotional and physical issues throughout their lives as a result of their fractured foundation as children.

Some signs of early childhood trauma in adults involve:

- Relationship problems as adults
- Anger outbursts
- Avoidance (wanting to leave difficult situations instead of solving them)
- Restlessness and a lack of focus
- Muscle pains, headaches, dizziness and general health problems
- Difficulty communicating with others
- Numbness and unresponsiveness
- Hypersensitivity
- Difficulty using the "thinking part of the brain"
- Stuck in toxic memories/lack of positivity
- Depression
- Blames
- Fear
- Difficulty trusting others
- Self destructive thoughts and behaviors

RISKS
- Heart attacks 💔
- Strokes
- Diabetes
- Cancer
- Asthma
- Premature death

What can help?
- Recognizing, being honest and accepting the problem
- Being proactive in looking for solutions and accepting help
- Being positive
- Staying focused
- Reassurance
- Encouragement
