We are incredibly grateful to everyone at Brancaster Staithe Sea Shanty Festival for their fantastic donation of £2,500 to Wells RNLI.

An amazing amount raised through the support and generosity of everyone involved in this year’s festival.

As an independent charity, donations like this help us continue saving lives at sea and ensure our volunteer crew have the training and equipment they need to be ready when the call comes.

From everyone here at Wells RNLI, thank you to the organisers, performers, volunteers and everyone who supported the festival. Your support really does mean so much to us.

We hope to see you all again next year! 💙⚓

What a view over Wells RNLI! 💜💚

The Northern Lights putting on an incredible display last night above our lifeboat station a beautiful moment captured here in Wells.

A very special sky above a very special place, home to our volunteer crew who are ready to answer the call whenever they are needed.

A huge thank you to Kirstie Brownbill for capturing and sharing this stunning photograph with us.

Saturday was a busy day for our station volunteers, with so much happening both out in the community and back at the station.

Our fundraising team were at Morrisons collecting for Wells RNLI, and it was wonderful to see so many people stopping to support the station. We were also delighted to be joined by long-standing volunteer Sheila, whose continued support and dedication mean so much to us.

Back at the station, our fantastic Visits Team welcomed 43 people on tours, sharing the story of Wells RNLI, our lifeboats and the work of our volunteers. Our shop team were kept busy too, with lots of visitors calling in and supporting the station.
Days like this show just how much goes on behind the scenes.

Our volunteers give their time in so many different ways, from launching lifeboats and maintaining equipment to fundraising, welcoming visitors, running the shop and supporting the station day to day.

We are incredibly proud of the commitment, enthusiasm and hard work shown by everyone across our team.

Could you be part of it too?

There are lots of different ways to volunteer with Wells RNLI, and you do not need to be lifeboat crew to make a real difference. If you would like to meet new people, learn new skills and support a lifesaving charity at the heart of our community, we would love to hear from you.

Come and be part of One Crew.

Today, our Launch a Memory gratitude book was used for the first time by families and visitors joining tours of the station.

The book offers those with a loved one’s name carried on our all-weather lifeboat, Duke of Edinburgh, a place to leave a tribute, share a memory or simply write a few words about someone very special to them.

The beautiful wooden stand and box that house the book were handmade by Wells RNLI volunteer Ray.

Ray holds many skilled roles at the station, including SLARS and Softrak driver, Head Launcher, Softrak mechanic and Deputy Launching Authority. He also takes many of our photographs during service launches and makes the station’s service boards and retirement plaques.

Ray is held in very high esteem by volunteers across the station, and this is another wonderful example of the skill, care and thought he puts into everything he does for Wells RNLI.

It was particularly special to see the first messages being added today.

A huge thank you to Ray for creating such a beautiful and lasting place for our Launch a Memory families to share their memories.

A huge thank you to Wells Carnival and the Holkham Charitable Foundation for their generous grant to Wells RNLI.

The funding will be a huge help as we look ahead to holding a special One Crew event next year, bringing our volunteers together and celebrating the people who make Wells RNLI what it is.

We’re incredibly grateful for your support and for helping us make this event possible.

Thank you from everyone at Wells RNLI.

Wells RNLI volunteers launched this evening (27 September) to assist two people cut off by the incoming tide on Wells beach.

Humber Coastguard paged Wells RNLI at 5.49pm following a report from the NCI Lookout that two people were cut off on the seaward spit of sand.

The station’s inshore lifeboat, Peter Wilcox, launched from the North Slipway at 5.58pm. The two people were visible from the lifeboat station and the volunteer crew reached them at 6.04pm.

Upon arrival and after confirming that neither required medical attention, both were taken aboard the inshore lifeboat and safely landed on the main beach at 6.09pm. The volunteer lifeboat crew remained with them until Wells Coastguard Rescue Team arrived.

Peter Wilcox returned to station and was ashore at 6.16pm, before being refuelled and made ready for service again at 6.45pm.

Mandy Humphreys, Wells RNLI volunteer crew member and Water Safety Officer, said:

‘The tide at Wells can come in incredibly quickly and areas of sand that look perfectly safe can soon become completely surrounded by water.

‘If you find yourself cut off, please don’t be tempted to wade or swim through the channels. The water can be deeper, colder and faster flowing than it appears, putting you at risk of cold water shock or being swept off your feet.

‘Call 999 and ask for the Coastguard, stay where you are if it is safe to do so, and wait for help. We would always rather launch and bring you safely back than have someone put themselves in further danger trying to get across.

‘Please check the tide times before heading out and, at Wells, aim to be back on the main beach or dry sand at least four hours before high tide.’

If you see someone in difficulty at the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

Thank you to NCI Wells next the Sea and Wells Coastguard Rescue Team and helping us to keep Wells beach safe 💙

We may have been a little quiet since August, but behind the scenes we’ve been beavering away! 🦫

We have such an amazing variety of groups right here in our community, and we’re continually impressed by the work they do and the difference they make. It’s a real privilege to be able to support them in their endeavours. ❤️

A huge thank you to the Holkham Charitable Foundation for their continued support, which has enabled us to distribute £13,500 in grants this year.

And that’s not the whole story! Various groups also raised money during Carnival Week through their own fundraising activities, including Runners Next the Sea, Wells Primary PFA, Homes for Wells and Coastal Health & Wellbeing, to name just a few.

So, although you may not have seen much of us lately, we’ve certainly been busy behind the scenes — and we’re incredibly proud that the hard work of the Carnival Committee, our supporters and the wider community continues to benefit so many local organisations. 💗

Thank you to everyone who helps make Wells Carnival possible.
