Mulgrave Estate The Mulgrave Estate covers approximately 15,000 acres close by to the beautiful and historic of Whitby in North York Moors National Park.

It includes 4 miles of coastline between Sandsend and Runswick Bay and stretches south westwards inland for a distance of approximately 9 miles to Egton. The Estate comprises agricultural land, woodland, residential and commercial properties including holiday cottages, hotels, shops, pubs and restaurants and is the major property stakeholder within the local area. The Estate is managed from the Estate Office which is located in Lythe, one mile north-west of Sandsend.

🎉LYTHE SHOP TO STAY OPEN! 🎉

The Management Committee of Lythe Community Shop are delighted to announce that, thanks to the support of new volunteers who have stepped forward, the shop will now stay open. The shop, the post office and the tea garden will all continue.

Since 2014 the shop has been run by local people as a successful community business. However, the current committee are retiring at the end of the year and have been looking for people to take it on.

The great news is that, since July, more than a dozen people have stepped forward to volunteer in the shop.

Committee member, Laura Dunn, said “we are so pleased that we are able to continue and so grateful to the people who have volunteered to help. The shop has always received wonderful support from our customers and we are especially grateful for their support and encouragement over the past few months.

There is, however, one role still to be filled. Many people come to the shops for the cakes, scones and quiches and we are still looking for support with the baking”.
