POV: You're recovering a lifeboat in force 8 gusts 🌊💨

Storm Boelo provided our crew with some serious conditions to practise their boat handling and man overboard recovery skills in 🛟 And finishing with a net recovery to get them back ashore safe and sound 🥅

It's important to make the most of these conditions when we get them, to ensure we're ready if and when called to service in similar 💪

⚠️ Stay safe during Storm Austen ⚠️

The RNLI is reminding those along the coast and waterside locations to be aware of the dangers as Storm Austen is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rain to the South East of England from late Thursday into Friday.

If you see someone else in trouble at the coast, remember Phone, Float Throw:

📞 Phone 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard to get help.
🗣️ Tell the struggling person to Float to Live.
🛟 Throw them something that floats, such as a life ring.

Now here's something you don't see everyday! 👀🚜

Crew member Pete (from a mounted camera) captured this unique perspective on the 'Bendy' as it loaded onto the trailer, off for its annual service 🔧

Don't worry though, we've got a relief 'Bendy' whilst ours is away, keeping us on service and able to launch to save lives at sea 🛟

Congratulations to Chrissy on passing her Tier 2 Crew assessment 👏💙

Her assessment included elements of towing, helming, lookout, locating and assisting casualties, as well as several theory elements ashore 🪢🛟

Chrissy shared, “I'm thrilled to have passed my Tier 2, it feels like another big step forward on my RNLI journey. I’m grateful for all the brilliant training we receive as crew here at Whitstable and all the amazing support and encouragement that comes with it.”
