Couldn't find a single in the house (drat those conscientious house and collections staff, with their daily dusting and vacuuming) but at least the garden team understood the assignment.

Fancy gifting a bit of Kingston Lacy this Christmas? The packaging for the National Trust's Christmas range this year took inspiration from the Spanish Room, and the beautiful pietra dura cabinet that hides the radiator.

The cabinet was commissioned in 1850 by William John Bankes (1786–1855) and created by the Buoninsegni Brothers of Florence. The Trust's talented designers have taken elements from one of the four panels, Winter, with its singing birds and seasonal foliage, for a collection of treats from marmalade to chutney to fudge.

Pop into the shop to find these and other lovely gifts for all your hard-to-buy-for family and friends!

Following the storm and high winds, Kingston Lacy is almost back to normal. We have had to close the northern section of the Woodland Trail due to storm damage, but there is a 1.5-mile circular woodland walk still accessible. House, shop, café and garden all open for you to enjoy.

When out exploring please be careful as there is tree debris on the path. Some routes might not be suitable for wheelchairs or mobility scooters. Please check with our Visitor Reception team on arrival.

Just two more weekends this year to visit the fascinating White Mill, down the road from Kingston Lacy - a wonderful corn mill with original 18th-century wooden machinery, in a peaceful riverside setting.

It closes for the winter from 5pm on Sunday November 1.
