🟡 Change & Conflict - the early years of the Royal Logistic Corps 🟡
The Royal Logistic Corps (The RLC) formed on 5th April 1993. Its acknowledged predecessors are the 'Forming Corps', the Royal Corps of Transport (RCT), Royal Army Ordnance Corps (RAOC), Royal Pioneer Corps (RPC), Army Catering Corps (ACC) and the Postal and Courier Service (PCS) of the Royal Engineers (RE).
Soldier logisticians belong to the British Army's largest single corps, the RLC, whose mission is to enable, deliver and sustain logistic support for the Army on operations. Experts in many fields such as catering, supply, ordnance disposal and transport, soldiers of the RLC are also equipped and trained to 'fight' logistics through. Since 1993 they have been engaged on operational deployments across the world, including Northern Ireland, Cyprus, the Balkans, Rwanda, Angola, Sierra Leone, Afghanistan and Iraq. Many of these deployments have operated under UN and NATO control.
Illustrated throughout with pictures of the Corps at work and play, this book records the absorbing and inspiring history of the RLC's early years. Get your copy in our online shop using the link in our bio or buy yours in the museum.
