I was delighted to attend the official opening of the new library at Tettenhall Wood School and to have the honour of cutting the ribbon to mark this exciting milestone for the school community.

As a specialist autism school, Tettenhall Wood School provides invaluable support to its pupils and this wonderful new library will create even more opportunities for learning, creativity and a love of reading.

It was a pleasure to meet the dedicated staff, parents, families and supporters who helped make this project possible, and I would like to thank everyone for their warm hospitality.

I was also delighted to meet young author Jayce Joyce BCyA, founder of 'Our Stories, Our World', a book written by talented young authors aged 6-10. It was inspiring to hear about the project and see such enthusiasm for reading and writing at a young age.

Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this fantastic new space to life, and best wishes to the school as they begin this exciting new chapter.

Being Mayor & Mayoress couldn't happen without the help and support of a brilliant team. I want to thank my Mayoral team for helping Ranjit and I settle into the role these past few weeks, to colleagues from other council departments who volunteered to help at my inauguration and to local businesses. Together we have already raised several thousand pounds for my charities and we will be doing much more over the course of the next 12 months. These people are too often behind the scenes, but we want to say a huge thank you to them all. As the saying goes, teamwork makes the dream work.

While visiting our beautiful West Park, I had to take a few minutes to greet this friendly little fellow who seemed keen to say hello. Just call me the squirrel whisperer!

It is a great pleasure to congratulate Wolverhampton's own Olly Cooper on becoming the new English Champion following his outstanding victory at the iconic York Hall in Bethnal Green, London, last weekend.

From joining Wolves boxing aka Wolverhampton boxing club as a shy 15-year-old, to now being a two-time Midlands Champion, English Champion, and ranked number 6 in Britain, Olly's journey is an inspiring example of hard work, determination and resilience.

He is not only a fantastic boxer but also a great role model for
young people across our city.

I’m also proud to share that Wolverhampton Boxing Club is one of my chosen charities this year. It holds a special place in my heart for the incredible work it does supporting young people, building their confidence, discipline, and giving them real opportunities to thrive.

Well done, Olly! Wolverhampton is proud of you! 🥊🏆

It was a pleasure to join Chris Allen on WCR FM’s Sunday Show for a live interview and an enjoyable morning of conversation and music.

The programme provided a great opportunity to discuss my priorities for the year ahead as Mayor of Wolverhampton and highlight the fantastic charities I am proud to be supporting during my mayoral year: Friends of Di’s Kitchen, Inspire You, Wolverhampton Boxing Club and Wolverhampton Judo Club.

Local radio plays an important role in connecting communities and sharing the stories of the people and organisations making a difference across our city, and I would like to thank Chris and the team at WCR FM for the warm welcome.

On Saturday, I was delighted to attend RISE at the Arena Theatre and meet some of the talented young performers involved in this inspiring production.

RISE brings together young people from across Wolverhampton and the surrounding areas, providing opportunities to develop confidence, creativity and valuable skills through the performing arts.

It was wonderful to see the dedication, enthusiasm and talent on display throughout the evening. Programmes such as this play an important role in nurturing young people, helping them to grow, express themselves and explore future opportunities within the creative industries.

My thanks to everyone at Arena Theatre, Flexus Dance Collective and Project Xpedition for their commitment to supporting and empowering the next generation of creative talent.

A fantastic evening at Molineux for the centenary JW Hunt Cup Final between AFC Wolverhampton City and Dudley Town.

It was wonderful to see so many supporters come together to celebrate 100 years of this historic local competition and the important role grassroots and non-league football continue to play within our communities.

Congratulations to both teams on reaching the final and representing their clubs so proudly on such a special occasion.

Thank you to Robbie Meakin and his wife Lauren for the warm welcome and hospitality throughout the evening. Although the result may not have gone AFC Wolverhampton City’s way, it was clear to see the pride and passion the club has for developing grassroots football, encouraging young people into sport and strengthening community spirit across the city.
