Urban Warfare Weekend
The squadron deployed to Salisbury Plain for an intense urban field exercise, pushing soldiers through a series of challenging and realistic scenarios. With EMUOTC attached—bringing around 15 personnel to play enemy forces—the weekend delivered a dynamic and immersive training environment.
This was a great opportunity for everyone to strip it back to the fundamentals, sharpen core soldiering skills, and build confidence operating in complex urban terrain. From section-level drills to decision-making under pressure.

What can 144 (Parachute) Medical Squadron offer you?
In January, the Squadron trained alongside the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, honing medical skills, teamwork, and decision-making under pressure during a simulated gas explosion.
Managing major incidents isn’t just a crucial skill for our reservist medics, but the skills learnt are transferable to all aspects of life - no matter what your civilian career demands!
Every training weekend with the Army Reserves offers a unique experience to sharpen your skills, boost your deployability and take on something new - one weekend at a time.

144 (Parachute) Medical Squadron roles: Medical Support Officer
Major March – Officer Commanding 144 (Parachute) Medical Squadron
Alongside my role as a General Manager in an Acute NHS Hospital Trust, I am an Army Reservist, leading one of the Army’s elite airborne medical sub-units. As OC, I’m responsible for:
• Leadership & Welfare – Inspiring and supporting soldiers to deliver world-class medical care in demanding environments.
• Airborne Readiness – Ensuring the squadron is trained, equipped, and prepared for deployment alongside airborne forces.
• Strategic Direction & Operational Planning – Setting priorities, managing resources, and co-ordinating medical support for missions from humanitarian aid to high-intensity operations.
• Unit Cohesion & Representation – Building resilience, fostering esprit de corps, and representing the squadron at every level.
As a Medical Support Officer, I lead and co-ordinate medical teams to ensure effective healthcare delivery in both training and operational environments. My role bridges clinical expertise with operational command—planning medical support, overseeing casualty evacuation, and mentoring personnel to ensure soldiers receive timely, high-quality care wherever they serve.
My Army career has offered me experiences that few civilian roles could offer, all over the world; deploying to South Sudan, training in Kenya, Germany, Gibraltar, Belgium and even parachuting with the US Army in Italy. The Army Reserve offers the best of both worlds – paid training, travel, sport, and the opportunities to gain recognised civilian qualifications, while balancing a civilian career and family life. Many employers, including mine (Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust), recognise the leadership skills reservists bring back to their organisations.
144 (Parachute) Medical Squadron is a team of engaged, active, and aspirational individuals striving together for a common goal. If this sounds like something you’d like to be part of, reach out to us to learn more.
Keep an eye out on our page as we deep-dive into some individual experiences within the Squadron.

Members of the Squadron assisted with The Duchess of Edinburgh (DssE) Competition.
The aim of the competition is to allow Tri-Service and International Units to participate in a series of competitive events to facilitate developing bonds of friendship, mutual understanding, and esprit de corps. This competition also provides HRH with an opportunity to engage with her Units Officers and Soldiers.
144 (Para) Med Sqn facilitated the Medical Emergency Stand. Simulating a drone strike with actors and casualties in a confined, lack of visibility space, subsequently followed by a CASEVAC. We provided the equipment, role players, Directing Staff and Hosting Duties for HRH and ITV, showcasing not only the highest of standards, airborne ethos but also Royal etiquette.
The variety of opportunities the Sqn gets is limitless. Are you interested in getting involved in something new and extraordinary? Get in touch Today!

Today, we came together in solemn remembrance — to honour the fallen, to thank the serving, and to reflect on the courage and sacrifice that safeguard our freedom.
May we never forget their bravery, their service, and the legacy they left behind.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
