RAF Harrowbeer A website dedicated to all those who lived, worked, or gave their lives, whilst serving at RAF Harrowbeer, Yelverton, Devon.

RAF Harrowbeer opened on the 15th August 1941 and closed several times before being disposed of in the late 1950s by the Government. It was part of No 10 Group, (hence the badge emblem).

Then and now. 16th October 1943 - Brazilian Ambassador visits RAF Harrowbeer to present Typhoon aircraft to No. 193 Sqd. The aircraft had been paid for by the Fellowship of the Bellows of Brazil. Second photo was taken on the 1st October 2026.

Turn up the sound and enjoy five minutes of Merlin and Griffin engined Spitfires in the Mach loop in Wales. We have been privileged to visit these two Spitfires in their hangar. The one marked DU-V was flown by Tony Liskutin, a Czech Pilot who flew from Harrowbeer (in a different Spitfire - also DU-V) in 1942. Actually got the chance to sit in the Cockpit of DU-V and handle the controls. A real treat.

Saturday 28 June 2025 is Plymouth Armed Forces Day, a national celebration of the Armed Forces and a chance to say a big thank you to all the men and women who make up the military community.

Great to hear about this. 312 Sqd were at RAF Harrowbeer during the Summer of 1942.
