Just some pictures from this evenings Borough Wide Meeting with our Youth Forum. It was a pleasure to sit through the presentation they put on and the speeches they gave.

Spent this evening with young people from the project group of Caerphilly Youth Forum. They were discussing issues on mental health, social media, brexit, law and lots more. They were able to articulate their opinions and were amazing at debating each of the issues. These young people are a credit to their parents, the forum and the communities they live in.

Had the chance to visit the Caerphilly Youth Forum Borough wide meeting last night. The young people there had the chance to take part in consultations on various policies that the Council are looking at. Using the forum is a fantastic way to ensure that the voice of the young people in our communities is being heard.

Had the chance to visit two comprehensive schools in our county over the last week to help the councils youth service complete the UKYP make your mark ballot. The young people of our county had the chance to look through 10 issues that had been compiled and then decide which was most important to them. The young people I had the chance to talk to were able to discuss the issues and had fantastic opinions on issues that mattered to them.

I had the opportunity to attend last nights Celebration of Achievement 2018 hosted by Caerphilly Councils Youth Service.
It was a great pleasure to be part of recognising the achievements and commitment of the young people of Caerphilly County.

I could see from meeting some of them last night and having had the chance to have met some of the young people at groups around our borough before, that a very bright future for our county is ahead of us.

The young people there last night were there because of their outstanding commitment and dedication to their chosen pursuit.
What strikes me most about all of the young people I have had the chance to meet over the last few months is their humility.

They do not do what they do for recognition or compensation. They are just content to continue working for their peers and communities without recognition and that's what made last night so important.

When we hear stories about young people within our communities we hear about youth unemployment, youth anti-social behaviour, bullying to name just a few. But what we always seem to miss is the great things that our young people can achieve as I was shown last night.

Determined and committed young people can change the world for those who may only be a few years younger than them. They may not be able to solve national problems on their own, but local ones or just changing the world for those handful of people is easily within their grasp.

No one knows the challenges that face the young people in their communities better than they do and no one is in a better position to actively advocate for and address these challenges.

The projects you take part in and the experience and passion you bring will change the lives of other young people around you.

Well done to you all.

I would like to say a huge thank you to all of the young people from across the Caerphilly County that attended the Youth Champion Question Time Event last night. Without your participation this event would never have been the success it was. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. I have lots of pictures from the event last night and as soon as I have chance I will put them on here for you all to see them.
