In March the Town Council held a long discussion about dogs being off their leads in Diamond Park. Several residents had reported incidents where children and vulnerable adults were being bounded up to by dogs running free. Members took these concerns seriously. It was decided that signs would be put up asking dog owners to keep their dogs on leads. It was not an easy decision and it was debated at length. This was debated again last Thursday (October 1st 2026) and the Town Council confirmed the decision to require dogs to be kept on leads at all times in Diamond Park.

The aim is to keep the park a safe and welcoming space for everyone who uses it. We are simply asking dog owners to keep their dogs on leads while in Diamond Park. This helps protect all visitors and avoids any distress or accidental incidents.

We appreciate the support of responsible dog owners and thank everyone for helping us look after this community space.

This restriction applies only to Diamond Park. Dog owners are still welcome to allow their dogs time off leads in Coronation Park where there is more space and there are less park users.

Ym mis Mawrth, cynhaliodd Cyngor y Dref drafodaeth hir ynghylch cŵn yn rhedeg heb dennyn yn Diamond Park. Roedd nifer o drigolion wedi adrodd am ddigwyddiadau lle roedd cŵn oedd yn rhedeg yn rhydd yn neidio tuag at blant ac oedolion bregus. Cymerodd yr aelodau’r pryderon hyn o ddifrif. Penderfynwyd gosod arwyddion yn gofyn i berchnogion cŵn gadw eu cŵn ar dennyn. Nid oedd yn benderfyniad hawdd ac fe’i trafodwyd yn fanwl. Cafwyd trafodaeth bellach ar y mater ddydd Iau diwethaf (1 Hydref 2026) a chadarnhaodd Cyngor y Dref y penderfyniad i fynnu bod cŵn yn cael eu cadw ar dennyn drwy’r amser yn Diamond Park.

Y nod yw cadw’r parc yn lle diogel a chroesawgar i bawb sy’n ei ddefnyddio. Rydym yn syml yn gofyn i berchnogion cŵn gadw eu cŵn ar dennyn tra byddant yn Diamond Park. Mae hyn yn helpu i ddiogelu’r holl ymwelwyr ac yn atal unrhyw drallod neu ddigwyddiadau damweiniol.

Rydym yn gwerthfawrogi cefnogaeth perchnogion cŵn cyfrifol ac yn diolch i bawb am ein helpu i ofalu am y gofod cymunedol hwn.

Mae’r cyfyngiad hwn yn berthnasol i Diamond Park yn unig. Mae croeso o hyd i berchnogion ganiatáu i’w cŵn dreulio amser heb dennyn yn Coronation Park, lle mae mwy o le a llai o bobl yn defnyddio’r parc.

Closing all but 60 of our GP led community hospital beds in Powys, which has no general hospital or hospice, is not the way to provide care. Rural healthcare needs a radical rethink, not cuts. I call on the Senedd and the Health Minister to instigate a full inquiry and debate on rural healthcare pro...
