Georgian-Serbian Literary Collaboration at the Writers’ House of Georgia

The Georgian-Serbian residency program, hosted at the Writers’ House, concluded with a creative evening that highlighted the power of literary exchange.

During the event, Georgian and Serbian poets read their newly translated poems and shared their experiences from the collaborative translation process.

The event was attended by Datuna Sirbiladze, Honorary Consul of Serbia in Georgia; Ketevan Dumbadze, Director of the Writers’ House; Ilia Koberidze, former Ambassador of Georgia to Serbia; as well as Georgian writers and other distinguished guests.

A letter from Zoran Marinković, Consul of Serbia, was delivered on behalf of H.E. Tatjana Pannayotović, Ambassador of Serbia, expressing strong support for cultural exchange and wishing success to all participating poets.

As a gesture of goodwill, the Serbian Writers’ Association presented the Writers’ House with an icon of a Serbian saint.

The project brought together six Georgian poets — Irma Beridze, Salomea Lominadze, Natalia Beitrishvili, Maia Mindeli, Lile Kvirkvia, and Miranda Eristavi — and six Serbian poets — Gordana Vlajić, Dučica Ivanović, Aleksandra Mihajlović, Aleksandra Pavićević, Hristina Mrša, and Jasmina Malešević.

This unique collaboration was made possible through a memorandum of understanding between the Writers’ House of Georgia and the Serbian Writers’ Association. Over two days, the poets worked closely together to create translations of each other’s works.

The result of this initiative will be the publication of a bilingual anthology, celebrating friendship, creativity, and cultural dialogue between Georgia and Serbia.

🇬🇪 🇷🇸 ბელგრადში, სერბეთის რესპუბლიკაში საქართველოს საელჩოს ოფისის ინიციატივით და ორგანიზებით, ხელოვნების სასახლეში კულტურული პროგრამა “საქართველო - უძველესი ევროპული მემკვიდრეობის ოაზისი” საზეიმოდ გაიხსნა.

კულტურული პროგრამის ფარგლებში, წარმოდგენილი იყო გამოფენა “ქართული დამწერლობის სამი სახეობა”, ასევე ეროვნული სამოსის უნიკალური ექსპოზიციები და ქართული ქვევრი. ამასთან ანსამბლი ანსამბლი ჰერიო/ ensemble Herio და ეროვნული ცეკვის ანსამბლი. შეასრულდა სხვადასხვა მუსიკალური და საცეკვაო ნომრები.

🇬🇪 🇷🇸 On the initiative and organize of the Embassy of Georgia in the Republic of Serbia, in Belgrade, the cultural program, "Georgia - Oasis of the Ancient European Heritage" was solemnly opened in the Palace of Arts.

Within the cultural program, the exhibition "Three types of Georgian writing" was presented, as well as unique expositions of national clothes and Georgian pitchers. In addition, Georgian polyphonic song and national dance ensembles performed various musical and dance numbers.

The event was attended by the First Lady of the Republic of Serbia Tamara Vucic, representatives of the sphere of culture, executive and legislature. Honorary consul of republic Serbia in Georgia David Sirbiladze and Honorary consul of Georgia in Serbia Dragan Sagunovic

The event is held under the patronage of philanthropist Phillip and Madlena Zepter, the founder of the multinational company "Zepter International" and the largest investor in the field of culture.

On 26th November the Under-Secretary of Serbian foreign affairs minister Vladimir Maric was on a business visit to Georgia.

He met Georgian Under-Secretary of the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.

In the meeting, parties discussed prioritized aspects of the economical / trading relationship.
