One of the outcomes of the EU funded twinning project “Improving Market Surveillance in Georgia” was to create a short video describing key aspects and importance of the Market Surveillance in Georgia.

EU Funded Twinning project “Improving Market Surveillance in Georgia” 24 month project with over 90 mission experts from The UK and Lithuania has come to an end and hosted a closing event in Courtyard by Marriott Hotel today, on Thursday January 9th 2020.
At the Closing Conference, speakers presented the results achieved by the project during 24 months of its implementation and discussed the sustainability and future perspectives of Twinning project outputs. Over 90 EU expert missions has been implemented as well as 2 study visits for exchange of practical implementation experience has been organized to the UK and Lithuania.
The Twinning Project has developed several guidelines with practical advices, held number of trainings and train the trainer seminers for Market Surveillance inspectors and lawyers. As well as awareness rising seminars outside Tbilisi.
The project documents have been translated into Georgian, communicated and discussed with the relevant stakeholders during workshops, seminars and trainings that were organised during Project implementation.
The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Mr. Genadi Arveladze, the Head of Cooperation of the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia Mr. Vincent Ray, Director General for European Integration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. David Bujiashvili, representative from the Embassy of Lithuania, Twinning project leaders and key experts from both EU Member States and the beneficiary Institution, as well as representatives of TCSA, other twinning projects and agencies in Georgia.
The Twinning project was launched in January 3, 2018 and has been implemented by the British NI-CO and Lithuanian Market Surveillance authority.
Background:
Twinning is a European Union instrument for institutional cooperation between Public Administrations of EU Member States and of beneficiary or partner countries. Twinning projects bring together public sector expertise from EU Member States and beneficiary countries with the aim of achieving concrete mandatory operational results through peer to peer activities.

The last day of the Train the Trainers course, which started on Monday 9th of December, 2019. The participants received the certificates for their participation and practical knowladge about how to conduct the training/presentation by presenting different topics.

The training of the trainers session is being conducted by the STEs from the UK to the representatives of the Technical and Construction Supervision Agency (TCSA). The training started yesterday and will continue until Friday, December 13, 2019.

Today, on November 29, 2019 the seminar on "Toy safety directive" is conducted by Mrs. Heemskerk and Mr. Richard Sageant, the twinning project experts from the UK in the premises of the Hotel Laerton. The main topic of the seminar is safety of toys and the compliance of it with the directives. The audience of the seminar are the importers and the companies working in the field of toys as well as representatives of the Technical and Construction Supervision Agency (TCSA) of Georgia.

On November 28, 2019 the experts from the UK Mr. Peter Stonely and Mr. Nicolas Dawes are conducting training on Consumer rights protection directive to the representatives of the TCSA and Market Surveillance Inspectors of the agency in the premises of the TCSA.

On November 22, 2019 the twinning project experts from the UK, Mr. Paul Thomas, Mrs. Beth Baker and Mrs. Helen Woods are meeting the consumer NGO group representatives and representatives of the Technical and Construction Supervision Agency in the premises of the TCSA.
The experts have paid particular attention to the following topics:
• To advise on the EU market surveillance system currently being adopted by Georgia and to illustrate it with practical examples.
• To foster and encourage engagement between the TCSA and consumer NGOs
• Discuss the future role of consumer NGOs in the overall market surveillance system.
• Example of product safety – market surveillance: Toys

On November 21, 2019 in thw framework of the twinning project the experts from the UK Mr. Adam Piney and Mr. Richard Ferry are conducting the training on "Personal Protective equipment regulation, market surveillance and product examples". The attendees of the training are the representatives of the Technical and Construction Supervision Agency of Georgia and the representatives from Customs of Georgia.
