The inaugural cohort of the Culture and Creative Arts Management Programme celebrated their graduation during the 57th Congregation of the University of Cape Coast on December 12, 2024.
This milestone event marks a significant step in advancing professional development within the cultural and creative arts sector in Ghana.
The graduating class comprises 42 participants who applied and were subsequently admitted from the National Commission on Culture and the Centres for National Culture, representing all 16 regions of the country.
The programme, designed to enhance leadership and management skills in the creative arts industry, reflects the University’s commitment to nurturing talent and strengthening cultural institutions across Ghana. These graduates are now equipped with specialized knowledge and tools to drive innovation, preserve cultural heritage, and promote sustainable development within their respective communities.
At the ceremony, the Executive Director of the National Commission on Culture, Nana Otuo Owoahene Acheampong, expressed profound gratitude to the various Centres for National Culture for their active participation in the programme. He also extended heartfelt appreciation to the Department of Music and Dance at the University of Cape Coast for spearheading this initiative aimed at enhancing staff capacity within the cultural sector. He emphasized the importance of such collaborative efforts in fostering the growth and sustainability of Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.
Dr. Margaret Delali Numekevor, addressing the graduates, shared her heartfelt excitement over their successful completion of the programme. She commended the faculty for their dedicated efforts to simplify complex concepts and tailor their teaching to meet the unique needs of the participants.
Dr. Numekevor highlighted the deliberate approach taken to bridge the gap between the faculty’s academic expertise and the practical realities faced by the graduates, ensuring a meaningful and impactful learning experience.
She also expressed optimism about the graduates’ futures, encouraging them to build on this achievement by pursuing further education and higher levels of academic and professional excellence.
Her speech underscored the university's commitment to fostering lifelong learning and supporting graduates in their journey toward becoming transformative leaders in the cultural and creative arts sector.
