SERVICE CHIEFS PAY WORKING VISIT TO 3 GARRISON



May 20, 2022

On Thursday 19 May 2022, the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Thomas Oppong - Peprah and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Frank Hansen paid a day’s working visit to Foward Operating Bases (FOBs) at Dorkorkyina and Bui to ascertain firsthand the current security situation in both camps and their respective Areas of Operation. The visit was necessitated by the recent security situation in our neighboring countries and the need for the Ghana Armed Forces to remain professional, robust and alert at all times.

At the Dorkorkyina Camp, the Chief of Air Staff was delighted at the pace of work in the new camp and was hopeful that work would continue at the same pace to ensure the urgent completion of the rest of the FOB.

On his part, the COAS thanked the Chief of Air Staff and the whole of the Ghana Air Force for their unwavering support in the conduct of various Army operations, exercises and events. He said there was the need for all to remain united to achieve the tasks of the military competently.

The delegation also visited the construction site at FOB Bui to inspect progress of work there. The Director for Health and Safety of Bui Power Authority (BPA) met with the delegation and assured them of the anticipated timely completion of the project.

Following a tour of the site, the COAS intimated that due to the security threats in the sub region, it had become imperative for the project to be completed expeditiously so that more troops could be deployed there to assure the security of the national asset and its environs against emerging threats.

The soldier is the Army. No army is better than its soldiers. The Soldier is also a citizen. In fact, the highest obligation and privilege of citizenship is that of bearing arms for one’s country.
