On Wednesday, 1st April 2026, the Social Welfare Department successfully carried out a disability support disbursement, providing essential items such as fufu machines, fridges, and financial assistance tailored to beneficiaries’ needs. Beneficiaries were encouraged to make good use of the support to improve their livelihoods and avoid selling the items received.

Hon. Emmanuel Darko highlighted that although many qualified, some could not benefit due to communication challenges, urging recipients to take full advantage of the opportunity.

The Municipal Chief Executive also emphasized the importance of self-reliance, encouraging persons with disabilities to work towards independence and reminding families to offer support and not treat disability as a burden. Proper maintenance and cleanliness of the equipment were also stressed.

One beneficiary, Miss Comfort, shared her gratitude, noting that the fridge will help her start a small business to support her child.

A road accident occurred between Ofankor and Spot M, precisely at the well-known Income Tax Bus Stop, involving a fully loaded fuel tanker and a faulty truck that had been parked along the highway. Fortunately, no casualties were recorded.

The NADMO Director of the Ga North Municipal Assembly, Mr. Samuel Larye, together with his team, swiftly responded to the scene. Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service, Amasaman, also played a crucial role by professionally managing the situation and safely handling the fully loaded fuel tanker to prevent any potential danger, thereby safeguarding lives and property.

Special recognition goes to the Ghana Police Service, led by Commander Bawa of the Mile 7 Police MTTD Division, for their effective support and coordination at the scene.
