Operational Intelligence Course Upgrade 1-2025 Commences in Burma Camp
The Chief Staff Officer (CSO) at the Army Headquarters, Brigadier General Atogbakoga Alobawone has officially announced the commencement of the Operational Intelligence Course Upgrade 1-2025 on Monday, 17 February, 2025, at the 5 Infantry Battalion lecture hall in Burma Camp.

CHIEF OF THE ARMY STAFF VISITS 66 ARTILLERY REGIMENT, ARTILLERY TRAINING SCHOOL
The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General (Maj Gen) Bismarck Kwasi Onwona embarked on his maiden familiarization tour of the 66 Artillery Regiment and the Artillery Training School on Thursday 14 March, 2024. The purpose of the visit was for the COAS to get familiarized with the Regiment’s Area of Operational responsibility, as well as the activities of the Training School.
The COAS was warmly received by the 66 Artillery Regiment Commander Rear, Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Jalali Din Ibrahim and the Commandig Officer of the Artillery Training School, Lt Col Patrick Atuiri at the Regiment’s Headquarters. A guard was mounted in his honour after which he was thoroughly briefed on the operations of the Regiment and the Training School.
The tour offered the COAS the opportunity to interact with troops and Defence Civilian Staff at a durbar, where he commended them for their professionalism and dedication to duty. He indicated that he was impressed with their hard work which had kept the Regiment running, despite the deployment of its nucleus in South Sudan. He however admonished troops to avoid actions such as betting, recruitment fraud, indiscipline, robbery and other vices that would lead them into trouble.
Maj Gen Onwona equally advised troops to be security conscious and alert as well as maintain a high level of situational awareness wherever deployed. He also mentioned the critical role that personnel would play to ensure that the upcoming elections are free, fair and transparent and stressed the need for all to remain professional in their posture and conduct of their duties before, during and after the elections. He concluded by charging them to be mindful of the fact that a lot is expected from them by the general public, and act accordingly.
The COAS was accompanied by the General Officer Commanding Southern Command, Brigadier General Samuel Yeboah Asare, the Commander Army Training Command, Brigadier General Stephen Kweku Parbey and some Staff Officers of Army and Southern Command Headquarters.

On Monday, 5 February 2024, the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Bismarck Kwasi Onwona begun his welfare visit to troops on admission at the 37 military hospital. He visited the Easmond Ward to commiserate with a soldier who suffered leg injuries in the line of duty.
He assured him of support throughout his treatment, adding that High Command was committed to the wellbeing and welfare needs of personnel.
Maj Gen Onwona donated gifts in cash and kind to him.
The COAS also interacted with the hospital staff and encouraged them to provide timely but professional medical care to personnel always.

The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Thomas Oppong Peprah has thanked personnel of the Army Headquarters for their loyalty, support and dedication to duty during his tenure. He said this during a farewell durbar organized at the forecourt of the headquarters on Monday 29 January 2024.
Maj Gen Oppong-Peprah stated that, the successes chalked was as a result of their collective effort for which reason he commended all for playing their unique roles to ensure the Army was successful in it's operations, training, sports and peace support operations.
The COAS charged personnel to offer same level of support and loyalty to the incoming COAS, Maj Gen BA Onwona to enable him command the Army effectively and efficiently.

The Ghana Military Academy (GMA) has published the entry requirements for the 2023 enlistment.
Applications are open to Ghanaian citizens between the ages of 18 and 26 who are unmarried, of good character, and medically fit.
Applicants must also have a minimum of six credits at the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) level, including English and Mathematics, or a minimum of six credits at the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) level, including Core English, Core Mathematics, and Core Science.
Alternatively, applicants may have a minimum of six credits at the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) level, including Core English, Core Mathematics, and Core Science.
Those with GCE 'O' and 'A' Levels must have five credits, including English Language and Mathematics at GCE 'O' Level and at least three subjects at GCE 'A' Level, including General Paper. Finally, applicants must have a minimum of a First Degree, not below Second Class Lower.

Officer Cadets of Regular Career Course (RCC) 62 and Short Service Commission/Special Duties (SSC/SD) 60 from the Ghana Military Academy embarked on a study tour of the three Service Headquarters on Tuesday, 24 October 2023 as part of their graduating activities. They first had a central presentation at Burma Hall on the history, role and expansion of the services. At the Army Headquarters, the Cadets were received by the Deputy Chief Staff Officer (Administration), Brig Gen Emmanuel Baidoo Acheampong who gave them a brief about the headquarters after which he admonished them to take their studies seriously. Branch Chiefs took the Cadets through the tasks of their branches.

The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Maj Gen Thomas Oppong-Peprah, has called for a deeper collaboration between the Ghana Armed Forces and the National Guard of North Dakota (NGND), USA. Speaking as a panelist at the Warriors Corner at the Association of the United States Army's Annual Conference and Exposition in Washington DC on 9 Oct 23, the COAS elaborated on the training assistance and logistic support the Ghana Army in particular has received through the 20 years of the State Partnership Program with NGND.
The COAS also held brief discussions on security related issues with his counterpart, the new US Chief of Staff Army, Gen Randy George. He also met with the Chief of the National Guard Bureau, Gen Daniel Hokanson and the Commanding General US Europe and Africa, Gen Darryl Williams. The COAS was accompanied by Maj Gen JP Osei Owusu, the Deputy Chief of Staff (Log).
