At Afribahamas, we seek to showcase beautiful Ghanaian textiles and fabrics through trade in the Bahamas. A courtesy call on the chief of Berekuso, Odeefoo Oteng Korankye II, by Mr. Andrew Wilson, Director of Afribahamas. This visit paved way for discussions on the establishment of factories for production and the building of strong business relations between the people of Berekuso and the Bahamas. Berekuso is located in the Eastern region of Ghana.

Today is the Day of independence in Ghana. Photo highlights shows a rare picture of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah with George Padmore, Peter Abrahams, Ras Makonnen, and Peter Milliard who organised the 1945 Manchester Pan-African Congress. The 1945 Congress was organised by activists with deep roots in Britain. The 1945 Congress reflected the burgeoning African and Caribbean labour movements. Dr. Kwame Nkrumah remembered the Manchester Congress as one which was attended by ‘practical men and men of action’, and George Padmore called it an ‘expression of a mass movement’. Pan-Africanism was the attempt to create a sense of brotherhood and collaboration among all people of African descent whether they lived inside or outside of Africa.

Afribahamas head, Andrew Wilson on his visit to Ghana had a meeting with the daughter of the first president of the republic of Ghana, Samia Nkrumah. The visit took place last week Friday, and discussions were centered on the need to have African nations work together to achieve growth. Also, the team which included Dr. Michael Pateman-last man on the right in the second slide, an archaeologist and pan-Africanist, presented a new book recently launched in the Bahamas by Christopher Omo-Shango Davis to Samia Nkrumah. Samia Nkrumah in exchange gave out copies of her father’s work Africa Must Unite. .nkrumah.official
