GNFS RESPONDS PROMPTLY TO VEHICULAR ACCIDENT AT AWOSHIE

The Weija Fire Station, responded promptly to a vehicular spillage incident at Awoshie Banyard.

The incident involved a Shacman X3000 long vehicle, a Honda Civic and a Hyundai Sonata, all of which sustained varying degrees of damage.

The crew successfully brought the incident under control and completed operations, with no casualties recorded.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.

GNFS INTENSIFIES FIRE SAFETY EDUCATION IN EASTERN REGION, TARGETS STUDENTS, TRADERS AND HOTEL STAFF

‎The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has intensified fire safety education across the Eastern Region, engaging students of Presbyterian College of Education, Akropong-Akuapem, members of the public at Kwahu Tafo Water Works, and staff of Freedom Hills Hotel at Nkwatia on October 20 and 21, 2026.
‎
‎The engagements focused on common fire hazards, prevention measures, electrical and LPG safety, safe cooking practices, proper storage of combustible materials and emergency reporting procedures.
‎
‎Practical demonstrations on the use of fire extinguishers and other basic firefighting methods were also conducted to equip participants with essential skills to respond to fire emergencies and help protect lives and property.

GNFS PERSONNEL RECEIVE ROAD TRAFFIC EDUCATION FROM POLICE AND ROAD SAFETY AUTHORITIES

The Bono Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) received road traffic education from the Motor Traffic and Transport Directorate (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service to promote road safety and reduce road accidents.

Personnel were educated on road traffic rules and regulations, including offences and penalties under the new TRAFICTECH system, which is yet to be introduced in Ghana.

The Bono Regional MTTD Commander, DSP Robert Anabiik Anmian, urged personnel to ensure their vehicles have all the required documents and particulars in compliance with DVLA regulations to avoid confrontations with law enforcement.

The police also cautioned personnel and the public to remain vigilant against fraudsters and scammers who may attempt to exploit the new system.

GNFS EDUCATES PCE FRESHERS ON FIRE SAFETY

The Akropong Fire Station engaged first-year students of the Presbyterian College of Education, Akropong-Akuapem, in fire safety education during the 2026/2027 academic orientation held on Tuesday, 20th October 2026, at the E. K. Osei Hall.

Personnel educated students on electrical safety, safe cooking practices, proper handling of gas cylinders and flammable materials, and emergency evacuation procedures. They also cautioned against socket overloading, unattended cooking and prank calls, while highlighting the Ghana National Fire Service's role in emergency response.

The exercise concluded with a practical demonstration on the use of fire extinguishers and jute sacks for initial firefighting, equipping students with essential skills to promote safety on campus and beyond.

GNFS INTENSIFIED FIRE SAFETY EDUCATION

The Aduamoa District, led by LFw Asantewaa, conducted fire safety education at Kwahu Tafo Akyiase on Tuesday, 20th October 2026. The team engaged shop operators, hawkers, residents and households on fire hazards, safe electrical practices, proper LPG handling, safe storage of combustibles and dangers of socket overloading.

Same day, Nkawkaw Fire Station continued its campaign at Domeabra, educating residents, traders and business operators on electrical safety, safe LPG handling, extinguisher use and emergency response, urging hazard identification at homes and workplaces.

Both exercises form part of ongoing efforts to raise awareness, prevent fire outbreaks and protect lives, property and livelihoods, with residents urged to switch off appliances when not in use and report fires promptly.

GNFS CONDUCTS FIRE SAFETY EDUCATION AT ST. THERESA’S COLLEGE OF EDUCATION IN HOHOE

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Hohoe, on Thursday, 19th October 2026, conducted fire safety education on the premises of St. Theresa’s College of Education as part of the institution’s Freshers’ Orientation for the 2026/2027 academic year.

The Hohoe Municipal Commander, DOIII Bismark Hosu-Porbley led the team to educate staff and students on fire prevention, classes of fire, appropriate extinguishing methods, the proper use of fire extinguishers, and energy conservation. Practical demonstrations equipped participants with essential skills to respond to fires at their initial stages.

The exercise aimed to promote fire safety awareness and protect lives and property.

GNFS RESPONDS TO FIRE INVOLVING VIP BUS AT AKYEM AKOOKO

‎The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has responded to a fire involving a 33-seater VIP bus with registration number GE 8855-15, at Akyem Akooko along the Accra–Kumasi Highway in the early hours of Monday, October 19, 2026.
‎
‎Firefighters brought the blaze under control at 0040 hours and completely extinguished it at 0052 hours.
‎
‎The driver reportedly noticed thick smoke inside the bus while resting after an earlier mechanical fault had been repaired. Preliminary observations suggest a possible electrical fault, but investigations are ongoing to establish the exact cause.
‎
‎No casualties were recorded, while the estimated cost of damage is GH₵300,000.

GNFS CONTAINS VEHICULAR FIRE AT THE ENTRANCE OF SUHUM FIRE ATATION

The Suhum Municipal Fire Station swiftly responded to a vehicular fire at its entrance on Monday, 19th October 2026 after spotting smoke from a Peugeot 206+ (GR 4107-16). A six-member crew led by Sub Ampofo Andrews deployed a charged hose, water and a 6kg dry powder extinguisher.

The fire was controlled at 1042 hours and extinguished at 1046 hours. Preliminary findings point to an electrical fault after driver Mr. Boateng Ignatius noticed smoke from the bonnet while moving out of the compound.

The vehicle's front portion was partially burnt. No casualties were recorded.

GNFS CONTAINS MAJOR COMMERCIAL FIRE AT DARKUMAN

The Dansoman Fire Station, responded promptly to a major commercial fire at Attico, Cable and Wireless, Darkuman, on Monday, 19th October 2026. The fire was reported to Fire Master Control at 1440 hours, and crew was dispatched at 1441 hours, and arrived at the scene at 1501 hours. Through sustained firefighting efforts, the blaze was brought under control at 1551 hours and finally extinguished at 1837 hours.

The fire completely destroyed nine containers, five Bihatsu high-jet vehicles, commonly known as Abosie Okai machos, and approximately 30 wooden structures. No casualties were recorded, while the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
