ABLEKUMA CENTRAL MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY MARKS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

The Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the Municipal Health Directorate has put together series of activities to mark this year’s ‘Pinktober’ breast cancer awareness month.
The theme for the celebration is dubbed “Early Action, Better Outcomes”
The assembly entreats all staff and residents to participate in this all-important line up of activities.

The United Nations Resident Coordinator supports Speaker Bagbin’s call on Reparative Justice as a Tool for Debt Swap underpinned by GITFiCs Global Debt Initiative. The UNRC will deliver an address at the 10th GITFiCs Annual Meeting on the 3rd Global Debt Initiative and the 2nd AfCFTA Tertiary Students’ Congress in Accra on 14th October, 2026.

As part of the National Sanitation Day activities, a clean-up exercise was undertaken within the Laterbiokorshie Electoral Area, with participants working together to clear waste, clean public spaces and improve the sanitary conditions of the community.

We commend all residents, staff, volunteers and stakeholders who participated. Keeping Ablekuma Central clean is a shared responsibility. Let’s all play our part.

The MCE for Ablekuma Central, Hon. Frank Nkansah, paid an inspection visit to the ongoing construction of the new drainage system at the Obetsebi Roundabout.

During the visit, the MCE engaged the project contractor, who provided an update on the current progress and status of the works.

The visit underscores the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring the timely and effective delivery of projects aimed at improving drainage and reducing flooding within the Municipality.

🚧 PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT

The westbound section of the Busia Highway, from Kaneshie Market Station to First Light Junction, will be temporarily closed from September 7 to November 30, 2026 to allow for critical storm-drainage works under the GARID Project.

Motorists are advised to follow the designated diversion through Awudome Cemetery Road, New Times Road, Awudome Roundabout, Oblogo and Mataheko, before reconnecting at First Light Junction.

Please plan your routes ahead and drive carefully.

As part of Government’s efforts to tackle flooding and build resilient infrastructure in Greater Accra, the westbound section of the Busia Highway between Kaneshie Market Station and First Light Junction will be temporarily closed from September 7 to November 30, 2026.

The closure will facilitate critical storm-drainage works under the Greater Accra Resilient and Integrated Development (GARID) Project.
Motorists travelling westbound from Korle Bu, Graphic Road, Obetsebi Lamptey Circle, Kwame Nkrumah Circle and adjoining routes are advised to use the designated diversion through Awudome Cemetery Road, New Times Road, Awudome Roundabout, Oblogo and Mataheko, before reconnecting at First Light Junction.
