Advancing a renewed Investment Proposition: GFZA Joins Launch of Invest Ghana Summit

The Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA)on 7th October 2026 launched the maiden Invest Ghana Summit and the 22nd Ghana Club 100 Awards, scheduled for November 2026, under the theme: “Invest in Ghana’s New Economy: Building a Productive Economy that Creates Value and Competes Globally.”

The launch brought together key stakeholders to highlight Ghana’s investment opportunities, renewed investor confidence and the importance of building a productive, globally competitive economy.
The Chief Executive Officer of GIPA, Mr. Simon Madjie, noted that Ghana is becoming increasingly competitive and attractive as an investment destination, stressing the need to present a renewed investment proposition to the global community.

In her address, the Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, described the Summit as highly relevant to “the Ghana we are building.”
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Dr. Mary Awusi, reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with GIPA to promote Ghana as an investment destination, facilitate investor engagement, and support businesses to establish, grow and compete in international markets.

She also highlighted the Authority’s partnership with GIPA on the Ghana Club 100 Awards, noting its commitment to recognizing enterprises that demonstrate innovation, productivity, competitiveness and value creation.
The GFZA remains committed to advancing investment, enterprise growth and sustainable job creation in Ghana.

GFZA CEO Showcases Ghana’s Free Zones Investment Opportunities at Alamein Africa Forum

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Dr. Mary Awusi, participated in a series of high-level investment, trade and economic engagements at the inaugural Alamein Africa Forum, held in Alamein, Egypt, from 2nd–4th October 2026. Established under the mandate of the African Union, the Forum was co-organized by the Government of Egypt, Afreximbank, the African Union Commission (AUC), AUDA-NEPAD and the African Development Bank (AfDB).

Ghana’s participation focused on positioning the country as a strategic gateway for investment and trade, while strengthening commercial relations with Egypt and other African markets.

Addressing the Health Plenary, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, called for greater investment in healthcare while the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry (MOTAI), Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare (MP), held discussions with Dr. Sherif El Gabaly, Chairman of the African Cooperation Committee of the Federation of Egyptian Industries, and Egyptian business representatives from the pharmaceutical, agro-processing, textiles and apparel, information technology and construction sectors. The Minister for Communication, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, also highlighted opportunities for Egyptian investment in Ghana’s FinTech and Artificial Intelligence (AI) sectors.

President Mahama visited the Ghana stand, jointly managed by the GFZA, Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA), Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), and MOTAI, where Dr. Mary Awusi briefed him on GFZA’s participation and the investment opportunities, products and services showcased to prospective investors and business partners.

GFZA’s participation reinforces its commitment to attracting export-oriented investment into Ghana’s Free Zones, promoting Ghana as a gateway to the African market and connecting Ghanaian enterprises to international opportunities.
Dr. Mary Awusi was accompanied by Ms. Anita Novi Quashie, Director of Marketing and Investment Promotion, GFZA.

CCIFG Celebrates Excellence and Strengthens Ghana-France Business Ties at Awards Night

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry France Ghana (CCIFG) held the 8th Edition of the CCIFG Gala and Awards Night on 3 October 2026, celebrating excellence and recognizing outstanding companies and individuals whose contributions continue to advance the Ghanaian and Franco-Ghanaian business ecosystem.
Held under the theme “Accra sur la Croisette – Lights, Legacy & Leadership,” the event also provided a platform to strengthen bilateral economic and cultural relations between Ghana and France, while fostering greater collaboration and business opportunities between the two countries.

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Finance and Administration at the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Mr. Hamidu Sibiri Musah, graced the occasion as a guest of honour and presented an award in recognition of outstanding achievement. FREE ZONES AS DRIVERS OF AFRICAN INTEGRATION: GFZA DEPUTY CEO SHARES GHANA'S EXPERIENCE AT ALGIERS CONFERENCE

Deputy CEO (Operations) of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Mr. Lateef Apau Wiredu, participated in the International Conference on Free Zones held in Algiers, Algeria, on 28 September 2026.

Organized by the World Trade Centre Algiers, the conference brought together policymakers, investors and international experts to explore how Free Zones can drive investment, exports, industrial competitiveness and regional value-chain integration.

Mr. Wiredu participated in two panel discussions, highlighting Ghana’s 30 years of Free Zones experience, including the innovative Single Factory Scheme, which extends Free Zone investment beyond traditional industrial enclaves to communities across the country. He emphasized that modern Free Zones must go beyond tax incentives and cheap labour by providing regulatory predictability, infrastructure, trade facilitation and strong regional value-chain linkages.

The participation of the GFZA underscores its commitment to South-South knowledge exchange and advancing Free Zones as engines of African economic integration.

Mr. Wiredu was accompanied by Mr. Kingsford Kwaku Jagre, Head of AfCFTA and Strategic Partnerships.

Eastern Expo 2026: Turning Economic Potential into Jobs and Investment

The maiden Eastern Region Trade, Tourism and Investment Fair – Eastern Expo 2026 was organized by the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council under the theme “Unlocking Opportunities for Sustainable Trade, Tourism and Investment.”

The Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Sampson Ahi, highlighted the need to translate the Region’s economic potential into jobs, investment and increased revenue, noting that 44 wholly Ghanaian-owned projects valued at over US$1.9 billion had been attracted between 1994 and December 2025.
Speaking on behalf of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Board Member Hon. Albert Tetteh Nyakotey underscored the Eastern Region’s potential in agriculture, manufacturing, commerce and tourism, emphasising value addition, local processing and export-oriented production as drivers of economic growth. He highlighted existing Free Zones Enterprises, including HPW Fresh & Dry Limited, Fairafric Ghana Limited, Oro Oil (Ghana) Limited and J.M. Addo and Sons Pharmaceuticals Ltd., while encouraging local businesses to leverage opportunities under the Free Zones Scheme.

Accompanying Hon. Nyakotey at the event were the Deputy CEO (Finance & Administration), Mr. Hamidu Sibiri Musah, and Director of Marketing and Investment Promotion, Ms. Anita Novi Quashie.

UK-Ghana Trade and Investment Summit Highlights Economic Growth and Free Zones Opportunities

The UK-Ghana Trade and Investment Summit was held in Accra on 24th September 2026 under the theme, “A Decade of Trust, A Future Always On: Scaling the UK-Ghana Growth Partnership.” The Summit brought together government representatives, business leaders, investors and other stakeholders to strengthen economic and investment cooperation between Ghana and the United Kingdom.

The Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Sampson Ahi, highlighted Ghana’s economic performance, including 6% GDP growth in 2025 and 6.4% growth in the first quarter of 2026. He also referenced Ghana’s position as the eighth-largest economy in Africa, highlighting the country’s investment prospects.

The Deputy CEO (Operations) of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Mr. Lateef Apau Wiredu, in his presentation, highlighted the incentives available under the Free Zones Scheme and how investors can leverage the Scheme to export to Africa and the world. He also participated in a fireside chat on positioning Ghana as a gateway to the wider African market, addressing issues related to trade, investment and market access.

Volta Free Zone Industrial Park in the Offing – Regional Minister Declares

The Volta Region is positioning itself as an emerging destination for industrial investment, with plans to establish a Free Zone Industrial Park to support manufacturing, exports and job creation. This was disclosed at the Volta Economic Forum 2026, held in Ho on Wednesday, 23rd September 2026, under the theme, “From Opportunity Showcase to Investment Execution.”

A key highlight of the Forum was the announcement by the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, that over 1,500 acres of secured land at Adaklu had been earmarked for the development of a 24-Hour Industrial Park. The Ghana Export & Import (EXIM) Bank has provided funding for the feasibility study to develop the park as a Free Zone Industrial Park.

The proposed park is expected to provide a platform for industrial activities, promote value addition, attract investment and create employment opportunities.

Representing the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Dr. Mary Awusi, the Director of Corporate Affairs, PR and Aftercare, Dr. Patience Agbleze Acorlor, participated in a panel discussion on industrial development opportunities in the Region.

The Forum, which brought together traditional leaders, government officials, institutional heads, investors and other stakeholders, focused on translating the Region’s economic potential into concrete investments, businesses and jobs. The GFZA’s participation reaffirmed its commitment to investment promotion, industrialisation, export development and value addition.
