A free and independent media is essential to building and sustaining peace.
Peace thrives on trust between citizens and institutions, across communities, and beyond political divides. By delivering accurate information, amplifying diverse perspectives, and creating space for informed dialogue, journalism plays a critical role in strengthening that trust.
Access to reliable information empowers people to make informed decisions, engage meaningfully, and hold leaders to account. In today’s fast-evolving information environment, this responsibility is more important than ever.

A free and independent press is essential to democracy, accountability, and informed societies.
On World Press Freedom Day, under the theme “Shaping a Future at Peace,” we celebrate journalists everywhere, and honour the vital role they play in building trust, informing the public and holding power to account — often in increasingly challenging conditions.
Let’s take action: stand up for press freedom, support journalists at risk, and champion peaceful societies where truth and trust can thrive.

It was a pleasure hosting an evening with Charterhouse Lagos , bringing together educators, families, and partners to explore the school’s vision for British independent education in West Africa.
As West Africa’s first British independent school, Charterhouse Lagos continues to blend centuries of Charterhouse heritage with academic excellence and a global outlook.
We look forward to strengthening educational ties between Ghana, Nigeria, and the UK.
