The typically disciplined and regimented atmosphere of the 2 Infantry Battalion (2Bn) of the Ghana Army was transformed into a lively hub of music, laughter, and celebration when officers, soldiers, Defence Civilian Staff (DCS), and families gathered for a memorable all-Ranks Dance to mark Easter Monday on 6 April 2026 at the Junior Ranks Mess, Myohaung Barracks, Apremdo-Takoradi.
The colourful event combined military camaraderie with lively socialising. From the moment the music started playing, the atmosphere was electric. Soldiers, usually seen in combat uniforms on demanding duties or internal operations, took to the dance floor in casual attire, exchanging salutes for handshakes, smiles, and laughter.
The all-Ranks Dance, a valued military tradition, fostered an atmosphere where hierarchy temporarily receded in favour of camaraderie. Junior soldiers mingled openly with their superiors, sharing jokes and conversations that demonstrated the strong bonds within the battalion.
The Second-In-Command, Major Selorm Hokoe, speaking on behalf of the Commanding Officer, commended the officers and men for their unwavering commitment to duty and discipline.
He noted that while the military profession demands sacrifice, endurance, and readiness, occasions like the all-Ranks Dance are vital in strengthening the unity and morale that make a fighting force effective.
He urged personnel to continue upholding the honour and traditions of the battalion and the larger Ghana Armed Forces. He further expressed his appreciation to the DCS and families for their invaluable support in the Battalion’s success.
For many young soldiers, the event was not just about dancing; it was about belonging. It was an opportunity to see their commanders not only as leaders in the field but also as comrades in a shared family united by service to the nation.

The Army Headquarters G2 Branch has held its annual Unit Intelligence Officers' Seminar for 2026 at the 5 Infantry Battalion's conference room, Arakan Barracks, from Tuesday 31 March to Thursday 2 April 2026.
The three-day seminar targeted unit intelligence officers, introducing them to the functions of the Ghana Army Intelligence Branch and equipping them with updated skills.
Key objectives included understanding Army intelligence data, mastering the latest gathering techniques, sharpening analytical skills, improving dissemination for operational planning, and enhancing briefing and report-writing abilities.
The Deputy Chief Staff Officer Intelligence, Brigadier General Stanley Samuel Nanor Mezo, gave the welcome address on behalf of the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS). He emphasised the critical role of military intelligence amid rising national security threats.
Intelligence, he noted, provides decision-makers with insights into adversary capabilities and intentions, reducing uncertainty, enabling strategic planning, and saving lives during operations.
Brigadier General Mezo highlighted Ghana's increasingly complex security landscape, marked by terrorism, cybercrime, asymmetric warfare, and transnational organised crime exploiting land, maritime, and airspace borders with sophisticated tools.
He stressed that military intelligence is crucial and that the seminar aligns with the Army's vision to deploy adaptive technologies for decisive land power projection.
The Chief G2 Training, Colonel Robert Talleh, applauded the participants in his closing remarks for the dedication and commitment they demonstrated.
He expressed confidence that their engagements with experts through discussions, exercises, and presentations on emerging threats, new technologies, and best practices had broadened their knowledge.
He urged them to apply the skills gained in their units to perform duties promptly, gather credible intelligence for citizens' safety, and serve as the military's eyes and ears. He presented certificates to the participants on behalf of the COAS.
Also present were Chief G2 (Opint), Colonel Gabriel Mawuli Agboado; SOI G2 (Training), Lieutenant Colonel Emmanuel Newson; and Intelligence Analyst, Major Edmund J Fiadjoe.
