The goal of “IGNITE! Africa” is to promote the education of Ghanaian youth on their country’s traditional music through research and generosity.
Purpose
The goal of “IGNITE! Ghana” is to promote the education of Ghanaian youth in the subject of the country’s traditional music through research, generosity, and the gift of performance. The information and video footage collected will be used to create a textbook and video documentary that will later be distributed to local schools and universities as an education tool. This material will th
ereby become a staple used by all schools, universities, and professionals in preserving Ghanaian traditional music, as well as Ghanaian culture. This will be executed through interviews with local artists and visits to local schools. These visits to local schools will begin to educate youth about their heritage before the main project has even begun. These interviews and school visits will lead up to a tour through the entirety of Ghana. During the tour, the group will collaborate in creating the documentation of the country’s traditional songs and dances through discussions and sessions with local instrumentalists and dancers. While doing so, free concerts will be given at each stop, and donated clothes, food, and medicine will also be distributed. Use of popular artists during each of the steps of the project will create excitement in the youth, encouraging them to learn about their musical heritage. Throughout the project, footage collected will also be used to assemble a television show documenting the preparation for the project, interviews with artists, visits to local schools, and the research and performances held during the tour of Ghana. https://www.gofundme.com/cultural-musicdance-for-schools
