The Northern Command (N/COMD), as part of efforts to protect the territorial borders of the country has conducted a long-range patrol and show of force along the GhanaโBurkina Faso border from 11 to 12 December 2025.
The patrol, which was in line with the operational concept of the Command, was conducted within the Areas of Operational Responsibility of the 11 and 12 Mechanised Battalions.
The aim was to identify possible armed elements along the border as part of N/COMDโs counter-terrorism and anti-terrorism operations, and to deter terrorists from establishing a presence along the northern frontier.
During the patrol, the team visited communities including Sandema, Chuchuliga, Chiana, Kayoro, and Binduri. In an interaction with residents and nomadic herdsmen, they indicated that the presence of the patrol team made them feel safe to go about their normal activities, especially during market days.
The General Officer Commanding Northern Command, Brigadier General Worlanyo Agbebo, urged the locals to remain vigilant and report any infiltration, sightings of unfamiliar persons, or suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station through their Chiefs for prompt action.
He further assured the residents of their safety, adding that the military would continue to maintain robust surveillance and patrols along the borders to prevent infiltration. He also encouraged the communities to provide accurate and timely information to the patrol teams to support efforts to protect and secure the nationโs borders.
The Ghana Armed Forces together with other Security Services are currently conducting a Joint Show of Force across major streets in Accra.
