BIG PUSH UPDATE
🚧 Saboba - Chereponi Road Project Lot 1 and 2 (47KM) 🚧
Work on the upgrading of the Saboba to Chereponi road project, under the Big Push Programme, is progressing steadily.
Earlier this week, Hon. Kwame Agbodza inspected the project as part of his tour of the Northern and North East Regions and expressed his satisfaction with the progress of work so far.
The project commenced in February 2026 and is scheduled for completion in February 2028.
Currently, work stands at 12.71% completion for Lot 1 and 12.48% for Lot 2 putting the project slightly ahead of schedule.
Ongoing Activities
To date, the contractor has executed clearing, demolition and scarification, filling of washout sections to make the road safe and motorable for road users.
This initial intervention has improved the riding quality of the stretch and resulted in significant reduction in travel time between Saboba and Chereponi
Currently, the contractor is focused on construction of concrete structures (u-drains, culverts) and earthworks, particularly, filling to widen and raise road to formation.
Social Interventions
To support local communities, the project scope also includes the installation of 1,000-litre capacity mechanized boreholes in the following towns:

🚧 BIG PUSH UPDATE: REHABILITATION OF THE GBINTRI-NAKPANDURI ROAD (44KM) 🚧
The government’s Big Push programme continues to transform the national road network. The rehabilitation of the 44km Gbintri-Nakpanduri road has achieved 25.73% completion less than five months after commencement.
The project began in January 2026 and is scheduled for completion in January 2028.
*Project Scope*
The project features a single-carriageway asphaltic concrete road with 2.5m shoulders, and includes a 7.0km dualization section through the Gbintri and Nakpanduri townships. It also covers the upgrading of 2.7km of Gbintri town roads, including the market square, using precast concrete paving blocks.
Key works include:
* Earthworks to widen the existing road
* Construction of roadside drains in communities along the route
* Construction of cross-drainage structures
* Laying of a 150mm thick natural gravel sub-base
* Laying of a 200mm thick crushed rock base
* Laying of a 60mm thick asphaltic binder course
* Laying of a 40mm thick asphaltic wearing course
* Provision of lay-bys in towns and villages
* Road line markings across the entire stretch
* Installation of road safety furniture

Earlier today, Hon. Kwame Agbodza inspected the project as part of his tour of the North East Region.
Addressing the press after the inspection, Hon. Alhassan Suhuyini expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far and encouraged the contractor, MESSRS MAWUMS LTD, to maintain the high quality of work.

🚧 The Mishuo-Woyema Bridge, North East Region 🚧
*Hon. Kwame Agbodza has announced the government’s commitment to completing the Mishuo-Woyema Bridge by the end of 2027.*
This major bridge connects the North East, Upper West, Savannah, and Upper East regions.
The project has stalled for the past five years due to delayed payments to the contractor for work done.
Earlier today, Hon. Kwame Agbodza visited the project site as part of his inspection tour of the North East Region.
The Minister assured the chiefs and residents that paying the contractor’s outstanding debt will be prioritize to get the project back on track.

🚧 Rehabilitation of the Techiman–Nkonsia–Wenchi Road 🚧
🚧 Rehabilitation of the Wenchi–Sawla Road (Lots 1–7) 🚧
Earlier this week, Hon. Kwame Agbodza inspected Big Push projects in the Bono and Savvanna regions.
While works on certain Lots of the Wenchi–Sawla corridor are progressing satisfactorily, the Minister noted with concern that some contractors are currently behind schedule.
To this end, the Minister has issued a firm ultimatum to all underperforming contractors, emphasizing that the Ministry will not tolerate unjustified delays.
“We will not accept excuses. If you cannot meet the timelines, we will terminate the contract and bring in those who can deliver,” he warned.
The Minister appealed to the Chiefs and people of the affected Regions for continued patience as the Ministry takes decisive action to rectify these delays.

Update on Big Push Projects in the Upper West and Upper East Regions
Yesterday, Minister of Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Agbodza inspected Big Push projects in the Upper West and Upper East Regions.
The Minister expressed general satisfaction with the pace of work and urged contractors lagging behind to increase their pace in order to meet project timelines.
Some of the projects inspected include;
· Upgrading of Tumu - Han - Lawra Road
· Upgrading of Tumu - Sissili - Navrongo Road
· Upgrading of Tumu - Chuchuliga - Navrongo
· Partial Reconstruction of Navrongo Chuchuliga - Sandema Road
·Construction of bridges over Kanyibie and Bechelihu rivers
