📺🕊️ PROMOTING RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE & PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE IN SCHOOLS 🕊️📺
The Ashanti Regional Peace Council, in collaboration with Garden City Television/Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), organized a radio and television outreach programme under the theme:
✨ “Hybrid Peacebuilding: Memorandum of Understanding to Guide Religious Tolerance in Schools” ✨
The engagement sought to educate the public on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Religious Tolerance in Schools and promote peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, inclusiveness, and understanding among students of different religious backgrounds.
Speaking during the programme, Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Badu Amoah, Regional Executive Secretary of the Ashanti Regional Peace Council, explained that the MoU was developed through the facilitation of the National Peace Council to help create peaceful, inclusive, and discrimination-free learning environments in schools across Ghana.
He emphasized the importance of balancing religious freedoms with adherence to school rules, regulations, and institutional values while promoting national unity, peace, and social cohesion.
Sheikh Ridwan Mama Dankonya, Chairman of the Zongo Local Peace Committee, also highlighted that religious diversity should be seen as an opportunity for peaceful coexistence rather than division. He encouraged schools, parents, students, and religious leaders to work together in promoting tolerance, harmony, and respect within educational institutions.
Key issues discussed included:
✔️ Respect for school rules and prescribed uniforms
✔️ Guidance on fasting practices and parental communication
✔️ Orientation on school regulations
✔️ Provision of worship spaces where practicable
The programme concluded with a collective call for stakeholders to support the implementation of the MoU and contribute towards building peaceful and inclusive schools across Ghana.

📚🕊️ PROMOTING PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE IN SCHOOLS 🕊️📚
The Western North Regional Peace Council organized a Peace Education and Sensitization Programme for students of Kessikrom Anglican Junior High School and Amafie M/A Basic School as part of efforts to promote peace, tolerance, and inclusivity among young people.
The engagement focused on respecting diversity, peaceful conflict resolution, and preventing violence, bullying, discrimination, and hate speech in schools.
Speaking during the programme, the Ag. Regional Executive Secretary of the Western North Regional Peace Council, Madam Elizabeth Boduwah, emphasized that diversity should be embraced as a strength that promotes understanding, friendship, unity, and peaceful coexistence among students.
She encouraged students to avoid bullying, insults, discrimination, and name-calling, while promoting kindness, cooperation, tolerance, and mutual respect regardless of cultural, religious, or ethnic differences.
Mr. Shadat Fussieni, Assistant Programmes Manager, also advised students to remain disciplined, security conscious, and responsible in their use of mobile phones and social media. He urged students to report unsafe situations to trusted adults and emphasized the collective responsibility of parents, teachers, and communities in protecting children.
The programme forms part of the Council’s commitment to nurturing responsible young peace ambassadors and creating safe, supportive, and inclusive school environments.

🤝🕊️ NPC Meets UNDP CB-RBA Joint Mission 🕊️🤝
A delegation from the UNDP Crisis Bureau and Regional Bureau for Africa (CB-RBA), together with representatives of UNDP Ghana, paid a courtesy call on the leadership of the National Peace Council, Ghana to discuss collaboration and Ghana’s efforts at sustaining peace and stability.
The meeting focused on key peacebuilding initiatives being undertaken by the National Peace Council, as well as priority areas including Preventing Violent Extremism, addressing local-level conflicts, Cyber Security, and promoting Youth Participation in Peacebuilding.
Members of the NPC Governing Board, Sheikh Armiyawo Shaibu and Madam Susan Aryeetey, together with the Executive Secretary, Dr. George Amoh, shared the Council’s ongoing interventions and strategic efforts aimed at strengthening peace, social cohesion, and national stability in Ghana.
The engagement reaffirmed the importance of partnerships and collective action in advancing sustainable peace and development across the country.

📻 The Eastern Regional Peace Council, in collaboration with Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly & Rite FM, held a radio engagement ahead of the International Women’s Day of Peace & Disarmament celebration in Somanya.
Under the theme “From Inclusion to Impact: Women Leading Peace and Local Governance,” the discussion highlighted the critical role women play in peacebuilding, leadership, mediation, and community development.
The engagement also encouraged greater support for women’s participation in governance and conflict prevention initiatives.

The Greater Accra Regional Peace Council is intensifying its Peace Education initiatives across basic schools in the Korley Klottey, Ga West, Tema West, and Weija-Gbawe Municipalities under the theme: “Catch Them Young.”
Through these engagements, students are being empowered with values of peace, tolerance, respect, non-violence, and positive coexistence which helps in shaping a new generation of responsible citizens and young peace ambassadors for Ghana.

🚨 SAFE SCHOOL ALERT | EASTERN REGION
The Eastern Regional Peace Council, in collaboration with the Narcotics Control Commission and Akuapem North Municipal Assembly Peace Desk Officers, has taken a strong step toward safeguarding the future of young people through a powerful Safe School sensitization programme at Larteh Presby Senior High Technical School.
The session, which reached over 300 students, focused on one critical message: *Substance abuse is not just a health issue — it is a trigger for violence, indiscipline, and conflict in our schools and communities.
Officials from the Narcotics Control Commission educated students on the dangers of drug abuse, highlighting its devastating effects on academic performance, mental health, behaviour, and future opportunities. Students were also cautioned on the legal consequences of drug-related offences, including arrest, prosecution, suspension, and imprisonment.
Mr. Osmond Appiah Danquah (Snr. Programs Manager, ERPC) further explained the strong link between substance abuse and violent behaviour, urging students to choose discipline over destruction, and peace over peer pressure.
The programme encouraged students to make responsible choices, seek help when needed, and become ambassadors of peace within their schools and communities.
Together, we are building safer schools, stronger minds, and a more peaceful future.

The Ashanti Regional Peace Council in collaboration with the Small Arms Commission, Ghana, organized a Peace Education and Sensitization Programme for students of Islamic Basic School in the Ashanti Region.
The programme aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence among students, educating them on the dangers of violence, and creating awareness on the consequences of the illegal possession and use of small arms and light weapons.
Addressing over 150 students, the Ashanti Regional Executive Secretary of the National Peace Council, Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Badu Amoah, encouraged students to embrace dialogue, tolerance, patience, and self-control in resolving disagreements peacefully instead of resorting to violence.
The Regional Director of SALW, Mr. Emmanuel Kenneth Oduro, also cautioned students against the unlawful possession and use of fi****ms, stressing that illegal weapons in schools pose serious threats to peace, security, and the safety of students and teachers.
The initiative also seeks to establish Peace Ambassadors Clubs in schools to help nurture responsible young peacebuilders in the region.

The Greater Accra Regional Peace Council (GARPC) organized a Peace Education and Sensitization Programme for students of Adusa M/A 1 Junior High School and Adusa M/A 2 Junior High School in the Ga West Municipal Assembly.
The initiative aimed at promoting positive behaviour, tolerance, inclusivity, and non-violence among students while raising awareness about bullying, peer influence, and the importance of peaceful coexistence in schools.
Addressing the students, the Ag. Regional Executive Secretary of GARPC, Mr. George Oko Mensah, highlighted the mandate of the National Peace Council in preventing, managing, and resolving conflicts as well as building sustainable peace. He emphasized that although conflict is inevitable in human relationships, the way people respond to it determines whether peace or violence prevails.
He further encouraged students to embrace unity and resolve disagreements peacefully, stressing that peace creates a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.
Speaking on respect, tolerance, unity, and non-violence, Mr. Isaac Prince Glorier, Assistant Programmes Manager, advised students to respect diversity in religion, tribe, language, and culture. He also cautioned students against bullying, exclusion, and negative peer influence, noting that such behaviours can affect academic performance and personal development.
The programme forms part of the Council’s efforts to nurture responsible young people and promote peaceful and supportive school environments.
