Today, I visited Chairman Wontumi at Nsawam Prison and donated food items and bottled water to support the welfare of inmates. Accompanied by constituency executives, I consider this gesture a modest contribution towards serving humanity.

I also visited Nana Osae Gyan Basic School to inspect the ongoing construction of a football pitch and the land earmarked for ultra-modern classroom blocks as part of my continued commitment to educational development in Nsawam-Adoagyiri.

On Friday, I joined the Constituency Executives to commiserate with the family of the late Eric Kwasi Ampong, popularly known as Pastiko, at Oparekrom in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Constituency.

The late Pastiko served as a former Electoral Area Chairman for Cannary Quarter. His passing is a sad moment for his family, friends and the community he served. Together with the Constituency Executives, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and pray that God grants them strength, comfort and peace during this difficult time.

May his soul rest in perfect peace. 🕊️

We held a stakeholder engagement on the Government’s waste evacuation policy to Adipa, bringing together the Aburihene, Otubour Djan Kwasi II, CEO of Jospong, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, the MCEs for Aburi and Nsawam-Adoagyiri, and various traditional leaders from the affected communities.

The engagement focused on finding practical modalities to reduce the impact of the waste transfer on residents while ensuring that their concerns are properly addressed.

As an outcome of the engagement, a stakeholder committee will work together to monitor the agreed interventions, ensure effective communication with the affected communities, identify and address emerging concerns, and help ensure that measures put in place to mitigate the impact of the waste evacuation are implemented for the benefit of residents. This is an important step towards finding a responsible and sustainable solution while protecting the wellbeing of the people of Adipa and surrounding communities.

I joined the people of Yaw-Adipa Electoral Area to draw attention to concerns surrounding the transportation and dumping of large quantities of waste from Greater Accra into our community. As the Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, I believe residents deserve to be properly engaged on decisions that directly affect their environment and quality of life.

The Assembly Member for Yaw-Adipa, Hon. Emmanuel Asamoah, also presented concerns raised by residents, including reported unpleasant odours, pests and possible environmental and health risks associated with the increasing volume of waste. The community is calling for an independent environmental and health assessment, appropriate cleanup measures, improved security and a transparent long-term waste-management plan.

I have made it clear that we are not against proper waste management. Our concern is that the process must be lawful, sustainable and respectful of the people living in communities receiving the waste. I therefore urge the relevant authorities to engage the community and respond to the concerns raised within the stated seven-day period.
