On the matter of the statement by the Majority leader on the Right Honorable Speaker Bagbin election as Speaker to the African caucus of the inter parliamentary union ( IPU) in Geneva earlier this month, I had this to say on the floor of the house.
Dear Mr. President,
REQUEST FOR INFORMATION UNDER ARTICLE 21(1)(f) OF THE CONSTITUTION AND SECTION 18 OF THERIGHT TO INFORMATION (RTI) ACT, 2019 (ACT 989)
I write to request for information or an update regarding the tragic aircraft accident that occurred on August 6, 2025. This heartbreaking event took the lives of the following eight remarkable
Ghanaians:
1. Dr. Edward Omane Boamah - Minister for Defence
2. Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed - Minister for Environment
3. Alhaji Muniru Mohammed - Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator
4. Dr. Samuel Sarpong - Vice Chairman, NDC
5. Mr. Samuel Aboagye - Former Parliamentary Candidate
6. Squadron Leader Peter Bafimi Anala
7. Flying Officer Twum Ampadu
8. Sergeant Ernest Addo
The nation mourned together following this profound loss. On August 25, 2025, a committee of inquiry was established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident, and the public was informed that the findings would be shared within thirty days.
In light of the time that has passed and the significant public interest in this matter, I respectfully request a copy of the investigative report or update. This request is made in accordance with Article 21(1)(f) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, which upholds our right to information, as well as Section 18 of the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989).
The public deserves to know what led to this tragic loss of such prominent figures and dedicated public servants. Therefore, I kindly ask for the full and final report from the investigative committee or any update from the committee.
I also understand that some aspects of the investigation may take longer to finalize. If the complete report is not yet available, I would appreciate it if you could release a partial or interim report. This would not only keep the public informed but also reflect the government's commitment to transparency during this difficult time.
Thank you for considering this important matter. I look forward to your timely response, as required by law.
Warm Regards!!!
