Our Mission:
To Regulate, Oversee and Monitor the Petroleum Downstream Industry in Ghana for Efficiency, Growth, and Stakeholder Satisfaction.

The National Petroleum Authority was established by an Act of Parliament (NPA Act 2005, ACT 691) to regulate the petroleum downstream industry in Ghana. As a Regulator, the Authority ensures that the industry remains efficient, profitable, fair, and at the same time, ensuring that consumers receive value for money.

NPA, COMAC Champion Safety Excellence with Launch of Safety Week 2026

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA), in partnership with the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC), has launched Safety Week 2026 to strengthen safety standards across Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.

Held on 7th April 2026 at the GIMPA Executive Conference Centre under the theme “Manage the Risk Before it Becomes an Incident,” the event brought together key stakeholders to promote collaboration and proactive safety practices.

NPA Chief Executive, Mr. Godwin Kudzo Tameklo Esq., highlighted concerns over tanker accidents and fuel siphoning, noting ongoing efforts with stakeholders to improve driver competence and enhance public safety.

The initiative underscores NPA’s commitment to protecting lives, ensuring operational continuity, and fostering a strong safety culture across the industry.

NPA CEO Inaugurates Steering Committee for Centre of Excellence for The Downstream Petroleum Sector

The Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Mr. Godwin Kudzo Tameklo (Esq), on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, inaugurated a 15-member multi-stakeholder steering committee to spearhead the development of a Centre of Excellence for the downstream petroleum sector.

The proposed NPA Centre of Excellence is envisioned as a strategic institutional platform that will support competency-based training and applied research within Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.

The committee will be chaired by the Deputy Chief Executive of the NPA, Dr. Dramani Bukari, and comprises representatives from key departments within the Authority and industry stakeholders such as COMAC, CBOD, Tankers Drivers Union and CTVET.

NPA, 24-Hour Economy Authority Sign MoU To Implement 24-hour Fuel Operations

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has achieved a milestone with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the 24-Hour Economy Authority to promote the policy in the country’s downstream petroleum industry.

The NPA Chief Executive, Mr. Godwin Kudzo Tameklo Esq., signed on behalf of the Authority while the Presidential Advisor on the 24-Hour Economy, Mr. Augustus Goosie Tanoh, appended for the 24-Hour Economy Authority.

NPA Donates GHc1 Million To Ghana Medical Trust Fund To Support Health Service

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has donated GHc1 million to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund to support health service delivery in the country.

The NPA Chief Executive, Mr. Godwin Kudzo Tameklo Esq., said the gesture was to support the delivery of health care for patients, especially those suffering from non communicable diseases.
