👨🏽‍🌾 💸🌍 The next great transfer of wealth in Africa may not happen in tech hubs, banks, or corporate offices. It may happen in muddy greenhouses.
For decades, many young Africans have been taught to look toward white-collar jobs in offices, banks and technology companies when they think about building wealth.
But there is another opportunity sitting right in front of us.
AGRICULTURE.
Not farming as a last resort.
Not farming because you failed to get a job.
Not farming because you did not complete your schooling.
Not farming simply to plant, harvest and sell.
We are talking about agriculture as a serious enterprise.
The person growing tomatoes, for example, is not only producing tomatoes. They are participating in a value chain that can involve seeds, seedlings, irrigation, farm inputs, production, processing, packaging, transportation, marketing, distribution and, critically, value addition.
And when that farmer learns how to control costs, understand demand, reduce losses, create better products, build a market and reinvest profits, the farm begins to look very different.
It is no longer just a piece of land producing food.
It becomes a business.
That changes the question.
Instead of asking:
“What can I plant?”
A smart future agripreneur should also be asking:
“What problem can I solve?”
“What demand can I serve?”
“And what agricultural business can I build around it?”
You do not have to start with a huge farm.
You have to start with the right mindset.
Learn the enterprise. Understand the market. Control your numbers. Start with what you can manage. Build intelligently. Reinvest. Scale.
Because the real opportunity in agriculture is not simply in what you can grow.
It is in what you can build around what you grow.
And perhaps that is the part of agriculture we have not been talking about enough.
Farming is not a sign that you failed.
Farming can be a decision to build.
If you believe more young Africans should see agriculture from this perspective, SHARE this post with them.
And follow iMaDe FARMs because we are not here only to teach you how to farm. We are here to help change how Africa thinks about farming, agribusiness, wealth creation and the future of food.
