The Suhum Municipal Library held a Personality Reading session with Mr Prince Ofori Yeboah, a practising nurse at the Jasikan District Hospital in Oti Region.

He read a book titled "Mark's Pressure" with some pupils of the Suhum Anglican Basic. Hee further and advised them on taking responsibility for their our health.

Ghana Library Authority Hosts “Reading Amnesty” at Nsawam Medium Security Prison.

The Ghana Library Authority, through the Eastern Regional Library, organized a Reading Amnesty initiative at Nsawam Medium Security Prison to advance literacy and lifelong learning among inmates.

Themed “Free to Read,” the program encouraged inmates to prioritize education and personal development, reinforcing that growth and achievement remain possible regardless of circumstance.

Inmates also had the opportunity to undertake a Read Aloud session.

The Acting Executive Director, Mr. Alhassan Betintiche Ziblim and his delegation reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to supporting inmates on their educational journey of reformation. As part of the visit, the team assessed the prison’s library facilities and donated a collection of reading resources to strengthen its holdings and improve access for inmates.

Nkawkaw Library proudly marked International Book and Copyright Day with an engaging and impactful program for selected schools within the municipality.

The session was led by Ms. Justine Perfect Alorwu, Founder of ESEC Coaching and a volunteer with the Ghana Association of Writers, in collaboration with Nkawkaw Library.

Pupils were taken through:
📚 The power of reading in shaping careers
🧭 Career discovery activities using guided career texts
©️ A simplified understanding of copyright and why it matters

It was inspiring to see young minds actively participate, ask questions, and begin to see the connection between reading, creativity, and their future paths.

We remain committed to nurturing a culture of reading, creativity, and responsible use of knowledge among our young learners.

The Koforidua Youth Engagement Centre marked Girls in ICT today with 10 girls from the Koforidua Presbyterian Basic School.

The girls were introduced to several IT careers as well as a session on the Introduction to Scratch programming, a block-based programming language made for beginners.

The Ghana Library Authority - Eastern Region will be at the Nsawam Prisons on Friday 24th April to mark Reading Amnesty, an initiative to celebrate International Book and Copyright Day.

This initiative is themed "Free to Read". The prisons library will be supplied with reading resources to boost literacy.

The Eastern Regional Director of the Ghana Library Authority, Sir Evans Korletey-Tene engaged pupils at the Children's Section of the Regional Library to wrap up vacation activities at the library.

Children took part in "Words in sixty Seconds - WiSS" an activity where pupils accurately write several words from a long list of words in sixty seconds.

It was fun and educative as it helps build their listening and writing skills.
