Police in South Africa are investigating violent protests by hundreds of high school students in Kraaifontein, near Cape Town, who demanded the removal of foreign nationals from their schools and the country. Police said about 700 learners from two schools took part in Wednesday’s unrest. The protest turned violent, with a foreign national reportedly assaulted, vehicles stoned, and roadside stalls looted. Security officers were deployed to restore calm and es**rt students back to school. The Western Cape Education Department said the disruption appeared to have started at one school before spreading.
