GRIDCo CLEARS ENCROACHMENTS ON TRANSMISSION RIGHT-OF-WAY AT BEREKUSO, EASTERN REGION.

GRIDCo has demolished unauthorised structures obstructing its transmission line Right-of-Way (RoW) at Berekuso in the Eastern Region.

The exercise, carried out on Tuesday, 29th September 2026, was led by GRIDCo's Security and RoW Protection Team with support from the Ghana Police Service.

The affected buildings had been compensated for and vacated, but were later reoccupied by squatters. The demolition was completed without incident or injury.

The exercise forms part of GRIDCo's nationwide programme to reclaim its RoW and sensitise communities to the dangers of living or trading beneath high-voltage transmission lines. The Greater Accra phase concluded earlier this month, followed by the Ashanti Region. The Western and other regions are next.

GRIDCo urges all persons occupying the RoW to relocate voluntarily, for their own safety and to protect the reliability of Ghana's power supply.
