Extra bathing water sampling as a precaution

🧪 Our officers carried out additional bathing water sampling at Eastern Beach over the weekend and again on Monday morning, supplementing our routine monitoring.

🌊 All results received so far show no indication that water quality at Eastern Beach has been affected by sewage discharges in La Línea.

Enhanced sampling will continue this week as a precaution and if any results indicate a change, we will inform the public immediately.

Environmental Agency Completes City Centre Rodent‑Control Cycle 🐀🛑

We have completed the latest proactive rodent‑control cycle across Gibraltar’s city centre, covering the sewage network, utility service manholes and high‑footfall areas. This forms part of our year‑round pest‑management programme. A structured process that involves far more than placing bait or carrying out a single visit.

🔍 What does a full control cycle involve?

• Surveying and mapping — identifying access points, harbourage areas and activity levels

• Targeted treatments — placing bait or traps in strategic locations, including the sewage network

• Monitoring and data collection — checking uptake, adjusting placements and recording trends

• Follow‑up inspections — ensuring activity is reduced and treatments remain effective

This is why rodent control is not a quick job. It requires technical expertise, time and repeated interventions to break breeding cycles and prevent re‑infestation 🕒🐀

Our dedicated team are also continuing scheduled treatments across Government rental estates 🏘️ as well as carrying out our routine seasonal treatments for cockroaches, which typically increase during the warmer months 🪳🌡️

Back underground — and back on top of Gibraltar’s pests! 👷‍♂️💪

Our public health operatives are once again carrying out targeted treatments across the sewer network and cabling infrastructure — tackling rodents and cockroaches where they hide 🐀🪳⚡

These operations are heavy-duty work. Manhole covers can weigh over 45kg, and our team lifts and replaces dozens of them during each session. It’s tough, technical, essential public health protection.

With warmer months approaching, these proactive treatments are key to keeping pest numbers down and safeguarding our community. ☀️

A cleaner, safer Gibraltar — one manhole at a time.

📢 Dog Licensing & Enforcement Update 🐶

Our officers are currently out and about carrying out licensing checks, tag inspections and sampling across Gibraltar. These checks help ensure every dog is properly registered, vaccinated, identifiable and that our shared spaces remain clean and safe.

Enforcement at a glance:

📊 104 fines issued last year for dog‑related offences

⚖️ 17 court cases last year where higher fines were imposed after owners failed to pay

💸 18 fines issued so far this year for dog fouling 💩

If you own a dog, you must:

• Carry bags
• Pick up after your dog
• Bin waste correctly
• Wash down urine
• Register and license your dog🐕‍🦺

📍Licensing available at the Animal Welfare Centre, Victualling Yard, Rosia (9 AM – 3 PM).

Responsible ownership protects public health, supports enforcement and keeps Gibraltar clean for everyone.

Bag it. Bin it. Because Gibraltar deserves better. 💚🐾
