The National People's Party (NPP) Banjul Branch firmly and unequivocally rejects the recent tribalism accusations being pushed into the public sphere through a manipulated audio clip now circulating on social media. The content of the audio is vile, yes, but make no mistakeโit is ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ฎ๐๐๐๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐, ๐ฉ๐ซ๐๐ฆ๐๐๐ข๐ญ๐๐ญ๐๐, ๐๐ง๐ ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐๐ญ๐๐.
This is the playbook of a desperate opposition, not just one party, but a broad coalition of those who fear the NPPโs growing strength in Banjul, especially in Half-Die Ward, where our candidate, Barthalomeh Colley [BOLO], is rapidly becoming the peopleโs choice.
The womanโs voice in the viral audio is unknown to our structures, and her remarks have no connection to the NPPโs values or leadership. We put this open challenge to the opposition and their agents:
Name her. Show her membership. Prove she is NPP. Or admit to orchestrating a cheap smear.
This is not just about defending our partyโitโs about defending our democracy. If political actors must resort to sewing ethnic hatred to win support, then they have already lost the moral ground. They offer no hope. No plan. No future. Just fear and division.
Let the record reflect:
โข The NPP completely distances itself from the audio and its contents;
โข We call for an independent investigation to expose its origin and hold accountable those responsible;
โข We reaffirm our commitment to the unity and dignity of all GambiansโFula, Mandinka, Wolof, Jola, Aku, Serer, and every tribe that makes up our national fabric;
โข We remain focused on the upcoming Half-Die Ward by-election, where BOLO stands not as a tribal candidate, but as a capable, people-driven leader for all.
We will not be baited into hate. We will not be silenced by lies. We are focused on solutions, not slander. While others throw verbal stones, BOLO is walking the streets of Half-Die, listening, engaging, and proposing real plans for change.
To the people of Banjul: donโt be fooled by politics of distraction. These are the last gasps of a movement that knows itโs fading. Stand firm. Stay focused. Let us rise above.
The Gambiaโs politics must not return to the dark corners of division.
