Honourable Fatou Kinteh, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Welfare, in partnership with stakeholders and with the support of the Human Development Fund (HDF), has presided over the distribution of Qurbani meat to widows and vulnerable people.
The initiative, carried out under the project “One Ummah, Qurbani for All – Together We Sacrifice”, reflects the Ministry’s commitment to supporting disadvantaged families and promoting solidarity during the sacred period of sacrifice.
Minister Kinteh commended Mr. Demba Hydara for representing HDF, noting that such efforts strengthen social protection and ensure that vulnerable groups are not left behind. She emphasised that the Ministry remains dedicated to advancing welfare programmes that uplift widows, children, and marginalized communities across The Gambia

The Ministry of Justice in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender Children and Social Welfare invites applications from qualified and experienced legal professionals for the position of Legal Consultant to support key legislative reforms for the establishment of The Gambia’s first SGBV Special Court.
The consultant will review and draft key legislation including the Sexual Offences Act, Evidence Act, and Criminal Procedure Act.

Hon. Fatou Kinteh, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Welfare, yesterday, Friday 15th May 2026, visited Trade Fair Gambia, engaging with women entrepreneurs and beneficiaries of the Women’s Enterprise Fund (WEF).
She was accompanied by Ministry staff, led by Funds Manager Alpha Hummah.
Minister Kinteh encouraged exhibitors to organise themselves into groups to access WEF support.
Women expressed gratitude for her presence, noting how the Fund has transformed small ventures into sustainable enterprises, while rural entrepreneurs welcomed the chance to showcase their products nationally.

Hon. Fatou Kinteh, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Welfare, on Friday launched the AFRICELL Kidzonet Application, a new digital tool designed to help parents and guardians protect children from online abuse.
The application provides families with practical safeguards to monitor and manage children’s online activities, ensuring safer and more responsible internet use.
Speaking at the launch, Hon. Kinteh highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening child protection in the digital era, noting that initiatives such as Kidzonet reflect ongoing collaboration with partners to safeguard children’s rights and wellbeing.
