Alhaji Sarjo Barrow Library and Museum

Update: Due to disagreements in the ownership structure, we have decided to enter stealth mode until the Alhaji Sarjo Barrow legacy project is complete. There are growing concerns about the governance of the library and museum, and we want to ensure that the vision and values that drove this initiative are protected. We cannot allow the hard work and resources invested to be hijacked by individual interests. Therefore, we will establish a solid structure and maintain control to guarantee the achievement of our mission: providing free education and a community center. Once our foundation is secure, we will reintroduce the project to the public.

Your memories stay with us everyday and we miss you so much. We’re working on establishing your legacy project, the library and museum by the end of 2024. A non- profit pre-school will be incorporated to encourage and foster learning and story telling. It will be a center for learning and education for everyone - helping to bring the community together. It will empower the local communities and will provide job opportunities for Alhaji Sarjo Barrow fan club members. We are thankful to our partners : individuals, businesses, government agencies, friends and families. We are excited and happy watching how everything is progressing so far. We look forward to opening at the end of 2024 so we can show the world something tangible in your honor. We thank the kind partners and appreciate all their generous support. Without you we would not be successful.

We are planning on a trip with all the partners to visit the site and learn our vision and missions. We plan on visiting historical places and showing off the beautiful smiling coast of Africa and all that The Gambia West Africa has to offer.

To Alhaji Sarjo Barrow, We love you so much and we miss you every single day. We’re working very hard to see things through and are grateful for your guidance through our lives. Your legacy stays with us and you are living in us.
