Fish folks in Bakau appealed to the ministry of Fisheries to help subsidize fuel for the fishermen, this will help the industry. Cold stores are also some of the challenges the fisher folks are facing in Bakau landing site.
In responding to the challenges in Bakau the P.S pledged to support the CMC to solve some of the problems. He also promised the fisher folks in Bakau his ministry would provide two fishing boats for them.

Joshwang fisher folks have appealed to the ministry of Fisheries to help them have more ice plants in Joshwang. And the timing of the night closure should be reconsidered for them. According to them the joshwang landing site is unique compared to other sites.
The P S informs them that the law applies to everyone equally. He said nonetheless the research unit would look into that and advise the policy makers.

The next step on P. S tour is at the Banjul jetty, where the staff welcomed the touring officials from the ministry. The management of the jetty highlighted some of the changes they face at the jetty. Some of those changes are fewer trollers coming to the jetty and there is a need to renovate the place.
The P.S assured the jetty management that the issue of the jetty is a concern for his ministry. And the ministry would continue to look into ways to bring the jetty to a standard one.
The P.S inform the jetty management that there is a committee set up to ensure that juvenile fish are not caught. And jetty staff should report any troller that lands juvenile fish.

Promised made promise fulfill, yes. Fisher folks at the Banjul fish landing site have acknowledged that despite some challenges at the site, the promise made by the ministry for the women has been fulfilled. Fish smoking ovens were built. Nonetheless they still appealed for support to build stores and expand the water facility in the landing site.
In responding to their challenges, the P S said there is a project that will address most of the issues raised by the fisher folks in Banjul.

"We have an open door policy, on anything that is in the national interest," Executive Coordinator for Banjul Ebrima Jawo, as he welcomes officials from the ministry of Fisheries. This is day 3 of the permanent secretary tour of fish landing sites across the country. Jawo appealed to officials to consider how to protect the mangroves around tobako road and bond road areas.

All hope is not lost as Brufut fishing community says the ministry of Fisheries campaign against IUU and night closure is paying dividends. Now fishermen are reporting that they are catching a big size fish.
The second day of the P. S tour ended in Brufut and tomorrow to continue to other places.

A state of the art fish landing platform funded by E. U sector support through the Department of Fisheries has been handed over to the people of Tanji, by the permanent secretary of the ministry of Fisheries.
So, the fisher folks in Tanji are really happy.
