Yesterday, 31 March, Amb. Ayo Luther-Ogbomode met with representatives of the PRINCE OLIVER clothing brand at the Embassy of Nigeria, Athens.
The meeting focused on concrete opportunities for collaboration in Nigeria, particularly in the field of luxury fashion. Discussions highlighted the brand’s international presence, its high-end positioning and the potential to introduce a pilot retail concept in key cities such as Abuja and Lagos.
Nigeria continues to attract international brands, reinforcing its position as a key destination for business and investment in West Africa.

Today, 31 March 2026 H.E. Amb. Ayo Luther-Ogbomode, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. held a meeting with Dr. Dionysia-Theodora Avgerinopoulou , Greek Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for the Ocean, Member of the Hellenic Parliament, our Ocean Conference 2024 Coordinator and Chair of the Environment Committee.
Discussions focused on strengthening Nigeria-Greece relations, with particular emphasis on ocean governance, environmental cooperation, the blue economy and parliamentary collaboration. The meeting also highlighted Nigeria’s strong participation in the Our Ocean Conference 2024 and explored opportunities for future engagement.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation and advancing sustainable development initiatives.

Yestarday, 16 March, 2026 Amb. Ayo Luther-Ogbomode met with representatives of Orbit Polymers S.A., Nikos Triantafyllou and Panagiotis Gerontopoulos, at the Embassy of Nigeria in Athens. Discussions centered on opportunities to strengthen Nigeria-Greece business cooperation, particularly in the petrochemical and polymer sectors, as well as prospects for trade and investment.
We thank them for their visitand and we look forward to continuing our dialogue and exploring future cooperation.

On Friday, 27 February 2026, Amb. Ayo Luther-Ogbomode attended the reception for the Diplomatic Corps hosted by H.E. Mr. Constantine An. Tassoulas, President of the Hellenic Republic, at the Presidential Mansion. The event was also attended by H.E. Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic, and Ms. Alexandra Papadopoulou, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The reception brought together distinguished members of the Diplomatic Corps and government officials.

Nigerian Embassy in Athens Celebrates Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary 🇳🇬
The Nigerian Embassy in Athens, headed by Amb. Ayo Luther-Ogbomode, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., hosted a reception to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day Anniversary at the Divani Caravel Hotel
The event brought together distinguished guests, including members of the diplomatic corps, Greek government officials, representatives of the Nigerian community in Greece, business leaders and friends of Nigeria.
In her address, Amb. Luther-Ogbomode highlighted Nigeria’s progress, unity and enduring partnership with Greece. She emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and fostering greater cultural and economic cooperation between both nations.

Commemoration of the Battle of Salamis
On Sunday, 21 September 2025, Ambassador Ayo Luther-Ogbomode, mni, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., at the invitation of the Mayor of Salamina, attended the official commemoration ceremony of the historic Battle of Salamis, held at Akti Salaminomahon (Kamarerou Beach) on Salamina Island.
The event, jointly organized by the Municipality of Salamina, the Region of Attica, and the Hellenic Navy.
The program featured the presentation of officials, wreath-laying, formal greetings and the symbolic handover of the Salaminomachi Flag. The ceremony concluded with a vivid reenactment of the naval battle, highlighted by the participation of the legendary trireme “OLYMPIAS.”
Ambassador Luther-Ogbomode joined fellow Ambassadors, members of the Diplomatic Corps, Naval representatives and officials of the Hellenic Government in paying tribute to this moment of shared history and heritage.

On Monday, 15 September 2025, Ambassador Ayo Luther-Ogbomode, mni, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Nigeria in Athens, attended the “Salaminia” ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Syntagma Square, Athens.
The “Salaminia” ceremony commemorates the historic naval victory of the Greeks against the Persian Empire during the Greco-Persian Wars.
Amb. Luther-Ogbomode joined fellow Ambassadors, Diplomats, Military Attachés, officials of the Hellenic Government, political leaders, representatives from the European Union, United Nations, UNESCO and delegations from various Embassies and foreign countries.
As part of the ceremony, each Embassy laid a wreath of remembrance and presented its national ceremonial flag during the ceremony, symbolizing the shared commitment of the international community to peace and cooperation.

On Saturday, 6 September 2025, during her official visit to Thessaloniki for the 89th Thessaloniki International Fair, Ambassador Ayo Luther-Ogbomode, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Nigeria in Athens, held an interactive meeting with the Nigerian community in Thessaloniki.
The gathering, attended by the community chairman and other representatives, provided an opportunity to discuss matters relating to effective collaboration, consular and welfare matters, integration, challenges of Nigerians residing in the city and diaspora investment opportunities.

The luncheon, which was held on Saturday, 6 September 2025, on the sidelines, brought together stakeholders from the business, research, technology, agriculture, and construction sectors, providing a valuable platform for dialogue on strengthening cooperation between Nigeria and Greece.

On Saturday, 6 September 2025, Ambassador Ayo Luther-Ogbomode, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Nigeria in Athens, attended the official inauguration ceremony of the 89th Thessaloniki International Fair (6-14 September 2025) at the Ioannis Vellidis Convention Center in Thessaloniki.
The ceremony, presided over by the Prime Minister of Greece, Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, featured the announcement of a comprehensive package of tax reforms, housing programmes, pension adjustments, and investment initiatives aimed at easing the cost of living, supporting families, and strengthening economic growth.
Nigeria’s participation in this event underscores the Embassy’s commitment to engagement with Greece at political and economic platforms, while exploring avenues for cooperation in trade, business, culture and other areas.

On Friday, 5 September 2025, as part of the activities during the visit to Thessaloniki for the 89th Thessaloniki International Trade Fair, Ambassador Ayo Luther-Ogbomode, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Nigeria in Athens, held a courtesy meeting with Mr. Ioannis Masoutis, President of the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on strengthening bilateral economic relations, promoting trade, and identifying concrete areas of cooperation between the Nigerian and Greek business communities.
Ambassador Luther-Ogbomode, who was accompanied by Mrs. Ruth Dauda, Minister Counsellor, expressed her profound appreciation for the warm reception extended by the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

As part of the activities during the visit, Ambassador Luther-Ogbomode held a courtesy meeting with Mr. Vasileios Gakis, Deputy Mayor for Culture, Tourism Development and Inter-Municipal Cooperation.
The meeting provided a valuable platform to exchange views on ways to strengthen cooperation between Nigeria and the Hellenic Republic at the municipal level, with a particular focus on culture, tourism and inter-municipal partnerships.
