Strengthening Zambia–Greece Relations Through Dialogue and Cooperation 🇿🇲🇬🇷🇪🇺

It was a pleasure to attend this evening's gathering organised by the Hellenic-African Chamber of Commerce and Development at the Athens Club, with Mr. Margaritis Schinas, Minister of Rural Development and Food and former Vice-President of the European Commission, as the guest of honour.

The evening provided a valuable platform for discussions on international developments and the future of Europe–Africa cooperation, particularly in trade, investment and sustainable development.

In my capacity as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Zambia in the Hellenic Republic, I had the opportunity to raise the importance of exploring greater cooperation between our two countries in key sectors, including agriculture, food processing, renewable energy and tourism.

I was particularly pleased to be referred to the Minister's assistant for further discussions on these opportunities, an encouraging step towards continued dialogue and potential collaboration.

My sincere appreciation to the Hellenic-African Chamber of Commerce and Development for bringing together distinguished guests and creating opportunities for meaningful engagement.

Today the Zambian Consulate Office welcomed the Deputy Regional Governor of Attica, Mrs Rita Moraitaki-Pikrou
Our meeting provided a valuable opportunity to explore areas of shared interest and potential cooperation between the Republic of Zambia and the Hellenic Republic, particularly in agriculture, wildlife and environmental conservation, education, women’s empowerment, and culture.
We spoke at length about the importance of cultural exchange as a bridge between our two countries—creating opportunities for our people to discover and appreciate each other’s traditions, heritage, arts and identity, while strengthening the bonds of friendship between Zambia and Greece.
We also discussed how Zambia’s rich natural heritage and agricultural potential, together with Greece’s knowledge and experience, could open the way for meaningful partnerships, exchanges and joint initiatives.
I look forward to building on this very positive dialogue and identifying practical opportunities to turn our shared ideas into meaningful cooperation.

Yesterday, I had the honour of representing the Republic of Zambia at the Business Forum held in Patras, where I presented on “Zambia: New Perspectives in Energy, Agribusiness and Infrastructure.”

It was particularly meaningful to participate in the Forum, especially as my attendance had initially been uncertain, as I had not been informed of the invitation in time. Moments such as this remind us of the importance of ensuring that representatives are recognised and respected in accordance with their positions, and that they are given the opportunity to speak for themselves. I was therefore grateful that, in the end, I was able to attend and personally represent the Republic of Zambia.

It was a valuable opportunity to highlight the Republic of Zambia as a safe, stable and secure investment destination and to present the growing opportunities available to the Hellenic business community, particularly in energy, agriculture and infrastructure.

I was especially pleased to share the occasion with distinguished members of the diplomatic community, including H.E. Dr. Linidiwe G Msengana-Ndlela Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to the Hellenic Republic, and H.E. Mrs. Zaina Benhabouche Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to the Hellenic Republic.
Also, I attendance were my colleagues, the Honorary Consuls of Kenya, Botswana and Namibia

My sincere appreciation also goes to HellenicAfrican chamber of commerceanddevelopment and the Vice Governor of Tourismand development Mr. Panayiotis Sakellaropoulos ], whose hospitality and support made the occasion especially meaningful, as well as to the regional authorities in Patras for the invitation and to the organisers for creating a platform for dialogue between Africa and the Hellenic business community.

As Honorary Consul of the Republic of Zambia in the Hellenic Republic, I remain committed to strengthening economic and commercial ties between our two countries and to promoting the many opportunities that Zambia has to offer.

It was a great pleasure and honour to attend the reception celebrating the 96th National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Athens.

This year's celebration was particularly special as we had the honour of being welcomed by His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Abdulmohsen bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Hellenic Republic.

I was delighted to join members of the diplomatic and consular community, distinguished guests and friends of the Kingdom in marking this important national occasion.

On behalf of the Consulate of the Republic of Zambia in the Hellenic Republic, I extend my warmest congratulations to His Royal Highness, the Government and the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with best wishes for continued peace, prosperity and progress.

Celebrating the National Day of the Czech Republic 🇨🇿

It was a pleasure to attend the National Day reception of the Czech Republic in Athens, hosted by H.E. Ambassador Ivo Šilhavý and Mrs. Šárka Rieglerová.

The evening was beautifully complemented by the photo exhibition “Prague Meets Athens in 3D Magic,” celebrating the cultural connection between these two historic European capitals.

On behalf of the Consulate of the Republic of Zambia in the Hellenic Republic, I extend my warm congratulations to the Government and people of the Czech Republic on this special occasion.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of joining fellow members of the Consular Corps in the Hellenic Republic for a working lunch with Mr. Dimitris Skalkos, Director General for Economic Relations at the Athens Club.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity for an open exchange on economic diplomacy, international cooperation, trade and investment, and the important role that the Consular Corps can play in strengthening bilateral economic relations.

Representing the Republic of Zambia, I was particularly pleased to highlight the growing opportunities for deeper economic engagement between the Republic of Zambia and the Hellenic Republic, including in areas such as energy, agriculture, trade and investment.

I extend my appreciation to Mr. Skalkos for the constructive dialogue and to the predident of the Consular Corps, Mr Christos Vardikos for bringing us together for this meaningful exchange.

Dakar 2026 – Flame Lighting and Handover Ceremony

It was an honour to attend today, in my capacity as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Zambia in the Hellenic Republic, the Flame Lighting and Handover Ceremony for the 4th Summer Youth Olympic Games – Dakar 2026, held at the historic Panathenaic Stadium in Athens.

The Olympic Flame remains a powerful symbol of peace, unity, friendship and hope, bringing nations and young people together through the shared values of sport.

My sincere appreciation to the Hellenic Olympic Committee for the kind invitation and for the privilege of witnessing this special moment as the Olympic spirit continues its journey from Greece to Dakar, Senegal.

🇿🇲 Congratulations to the President of the Republic of Zambia 🇿🇲

The Zambian Consulate in Greece extends its warmest congratulations to His Excellency Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia, on his re-election to serve the people of Zambia for a second term.

We commend the people of Zambia for exercising their democratic right and for participating in this important national process.

As Zambia begins a new chapter, may this renewed mandate bring continued peace, unity, stability and prosperity to our beloved nation.

We wish His Excellency President Hichilema wisdom, strength and success as he continues to lead Zambia and serve its people.

It is with profound sadness that I have learned of the passing of Dr. Guy Lindsay Scott, former Vice President of the Republic of Zambia and Acting President during a significant period in our nation's history.

Dr. Scott dedicated many years of his life to public service and to the advancement of Zambia. His leadership, intellect and commitment to democratic governance left a lasting mark on our country and earned him respect both within Zambia and internationally.

As Honorary Consul of the Republic of Zambia in Greece, I extend my sincere condolences to his family, friends, and to the people of Zambia during this time of mourning.

May his legacy of service and patriotism continue to inspire future generations.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.

DAY 2 of the Official Visit
Today was dedicated to engaging discussions at the Hellenic National Defence College (SETHA).

We were welcomed by Brig. General Methenitis and his team. Exchanges of views and ideas were made with distinguished military leaders and experts on contemporary security challenges, regional stability, strategic cooperation, and the evolving defense environment. The visit provided valuable insights into Greece's approach to defense education, strategic planning, and leadership development.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the leadership and staff of SETHA for their warm hospitality and the opportunity to strengthen professional ties and mutual understanding.

Looking forward to continuing this productive exchange of knowledge and experiences.
