An exact replica of the icon of Theotokos of Jerusalem from the Monastery of St. Panteleimon on Mount Athos. Made on a particle board with the use of the most advanced imprinting and production techniques. The background is decorated in a way that gives the impression of glossy gilding.

The icon of the Theotokos of Jerusalem is located in the Holy Monastery of St. Panteleimon, on Mount Athos. This icon was made by the most revered Russian ascetic Nikon, who practiced in the desert of St. Nil Sorsky.

The Virgin Mary is depicted in a bust, slightly turned to the right, according to the usual Hodegetria format. On either side of the Virgin Mary, Saint Joachim is depicted in full body on the right and Saint Anna on the left.

🙏 Handmade icon with gold leaves "Saint Daria"

Icon made on natural linden wood with water-gilding technique. After the thermal treatment, the wood was gilded with 22K gold leaf, in accordance with traditional Byzantine techniques. The icon has been painted with egg tempera for a higher quality and durability of the colors.

Saint Daria is depicted frontally. Her gaze is serious and penetrating, while at the same time conveying the gentleness and inner strength of her personality. Her youthful figure appears serene and enlightened by the grace of her martyrdom. The delicacy of her features and the clarity of her form reveal her spiritual cultivation and steadfast faith in Christ.

She is clothed in a light blue maphorion and a purple tunic adorned with golden details. In her right hand she holds a cross, symbolizing her confession of faith, her martyrdom, and her self-sacrificial love. Her left hand is positioned in a gesture of supplication.

The figure is set against a golden background. It is therefore emphasized the transcendence of historical time as well as the grace of the saint.

Product Details:
An exact replica of the icon of Theotokos of the Akathist Hymn from the Monastery of Dionysiou on Mount Athos. Made on a particle board with the use of the most advanced imprinting and production techniques. The background is decorated in a way that gives the impression of glossy gilding.

According to tradition, a work of the Apostle Luke, this icon was brought out in procession by the Patriarch Sergius along the walls of Constantinople in 624 AD, during the siege of the Avars. After a miraculous victory, the faithful conducted an all-night vigil where they chanted together the Akathist Hymn.

In 1592, the icon was stolen from the Monastery during a pirate raid. However, after a storm, the Mother of God appeared to the pirates’ leader, and the icon was returned. The box where the icon was being kept was found overflowing with myrrh. For this reason, the icon also carries the name “Myrovlytissa”, or myrrh-streaming. In 1767, it was stolen again by non-Christians. The Christians who recovered it then brought it to Skopelos, not wishing to hand it return it to the Monastery. In the end, a plague spread through the island, and they were forced to accept its return.
