Juvenile Justice Department - Guyana

It has been a pleasure to serve as Director of the Juvenile Justice Department.

I salute the staff of the Juvenile Holding Centre and the New Opportunity Corps for their commitment and dedication towards rehabilitation of our juveniles.

I'm grateful for the unwavering support from Childcare & Protection Agency, Childlink Guyana, Blossom Inc., the Guyana Police Force, Cops & Faith, Community Policing Groups, Director of Public Prosecution Chambers, Guyana Legal Aid Clinic, the Restorative Justice Centre, the Judiciary, the Guyana Association of Women Lawyers, National Toshao Council and many other partners.

Together, we have been able to offer second chances to juveniles who came into contact and/ conflict with the law.
As my journey in this position comes to an end, I trust that you will remain steadfast, passionate and hopeful in bringing about change!
I pledge also to continue to live a life of service and an advocate for children and vulnerable adults in need of care, protection and Justice ⚖️ 🙏.

I thank Hon. Robeson Benn- Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Andre Ally-Permanent Secretary and leaders for the esteemed opportunity to have served in this capacity.

I thank you all and wish you the very best.

Congratulations to our staff who continue to pursue studies to become more effective service providers.

We applaud your dedication and commitment towards ensuring our juveniles receive the best care in the safest environment.

It is because of you, your hard work, grim determination, zeal, passion and commitment that change and second chances are even an option in our rehabilitation programs.
Your dedication of showing up everyday to guide them through challenging aspects of their lives is admirable.

Today, I salute each and everyone of you.
I celebrate you and stand as a witness of your sacrifices and unwavering love.

Thank you for going beyond the call. Thank you for standing in the gap. Thank you for being a pillar of strength, comforter, mentor, counselor and friend to those who need you most.
