Chargé d’Affaires Sadbh O’Reilly was delighted to visit Macao last week, where she attended the Economic, Trade and Tourism Promotion Seminar followed by a dinner organised by the Macao SAR Government. Sam Hou Fai, Chief Executive of the Macao SAR Government, and Bian Lixin, Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao SAR was also in attendance.

Together with European Consuls General, she attended a luncheon with ASEAN Consul Generals. Macao SAR Secretary for Administration and Justice, Wong Sio Chak addressed the luncheon and outlined Macao’s economic diversification plans.

Chargé d’Affaires O’Reilly was also delighted to attend the official EU Day evening reception🇪🇺. Ambassador Harvey Rouse highlighted the importance of the EU–Macao partnership in trade and shared climate change mitigation goals. Secretary Wong was also in attendance and delivered remarks.

代辦梁阮玲好開心喺上星期到訪澳門。佢出席咗澳門特別行政區政府舉辦嘅經濟、貿易及旅遊推廣研討會並參加咗晚宴。澳門特別行政區行政長官岑浩輝同中華人民共和國外交部駐澳門特別行政區特派員公署特派员卞立新亦有出席。

佢同其他歐洲國家總領事一齊出席咗與東南亞國家聯盟各國領事嘅午宴。澳門特別行政區行政法務司司長黃少澤亦有出席午宴並致辭，概述咗澳門嘅經濟多元化發展計劃。

代辦都好開心出席咗歐盟日晚間酒會🇪🇺，歐盟駐香港及澳門大使盧效偉先生喺酒會上強調歐盟同澳門夥伴關係喺貿易同共同應對氣候變遷目標非常重要。司長黃少澤亦有出席酒會並發表演講。

Deputy Consul General Sadbh O’Reilly was delighted to attend the Opening Ceremony of Vinexposium Asia 2026 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

She visited the St. Patrick's Distillery Ltd. and Grace O’Malley Whiskey booths, showcasing the rich tradition of Ireland’s whiskey industry as part of the Be Spirits Hong Kong exhibition fair. 🇮🇪🥃

The Consulate is proud to see Irish products represented in Hong Kong and the Government of Ireland remains committed to supporting Irish businesses grow and thrive internationally.

Consul General Bourke was delighted to visit Macao last week, where she met with Bian Lixin, Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao SAR, and members of the Irish community. She also attended the 12th Macau European Chamber of Commerce Gala Dinner, attended by representatives of the Macao-based European Chambers of Commerce and business community in Macao. We are very pleased that Ireland has been selected as the theme country for the 2027 Gala Dinner.

This visit further strengthened the ties between Ireland and Macao, and she looks forward to returning again soon. 🇮🇪🇲🇴

The Consulate was delighted to support the Europe Day celebrations, co organised by the European Union Office to Hong Kong and Macao. 🎉 The event brought together over 300 distinguished guests from politics, diplomacy, business, and civil society.

Ambassador Harvey Rouse, Head of the European Union in Hong Kong and Macao, delivered remarks highlighting the close, deep, and broad ties between the EU and Hong Kong. Paul Lam, Secretary for Justice of the HKSAR Government, also delivered remarks. Li Yongsheng, Deputy Commissioner of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Hong Kong SAR was also in attendance.

From July to December 2026, Ireland will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union – a central leadership role at the heart of EU decision making. 🇮🇪🇪🇺

Today, on International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, we mark the progress made on the rights of LGBTIQ+ people.

It is unacceptable that LGBTIQ+ people continue to face discrimination, harassment, and violence for being who they are.

Ireland will continue to call for further steps to realise the full equality of LGBTIQ+ persons at home and globally.

From July to December 2026, Ireland will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union – a central leadership role at the heart of EU decision-making.

For six months, Ireland will guide negotiations, broker agreement between Member States, and help deliver EU laws and policies that affect the daily lives of more than 450 million people.
