The FSA has held a workshop organized in collaboration with our friends from the Science Association today. There were various experiments such as DNA extraction and soap-making. We thank you all for your support in our activities!
The Queen’s College Forensic Science Association is going to hold its Orientation Day on the 15th of October. There will be intriguing experiments and fun games for students who are interested. Come join us for an unforgettable experience!
The Queen’s College Forensic Science Association is going to hold the admission test for the subcommittee recruitment on the third of November. For those who have signed up, please remember to arrive at room 118 after school. The test will commence at 1545.
The Queen’s College Forensic Science Association is recruiting subcommittee members. For those who are interested and are S2-S3, you may refer to the forms that are pinned to the classroom boards. The deadline for the recruitment is next Monday, ie 30/10.

The Forensic Science Association is going to recruit its subcommittee starting from 29/9 to 4/10. Our main targets are S3 and S4 students and we hope that you come and join our Association. Also, we are going to hold an Orientation Day on 13/10. On that day there will be many interesting forensic experiments and games to play, so we do hope that you participate in this once-in-a-blue-moon event!

想不想在一個星期之內玩盡科學各個領域？你又是否為錯過自己喜歡的科學工作坊而煩惱？想測試你的科學頭腦？那你就不用再煩惱了！由我們理學會、生物學會、物理學會、鑑證科學學會、天文學會、電腦學會及飛行學會組成的科學聯盟「League of Science」將會在25/4至29/4這一星期舉行Science Week。屆時，我們將會一連5天舉行不同的工作坊，無論是天空中的飛機和星星，人類的電腦和鑑證技術，還是傳統的Phy、Chem、Bio，你都可以在5天內嘗盡所有。我們LoS各個學會將會在這個星期各自舉行工作坊。

《古代的鑑證科學》
很多人認為鑑證科學與高科技、先進等字詞劃上等號，在得知古代也有鑑證科學是被嚇了一跳。首先，我們要清楚鑑證科學的定義：鑑證科學是一種利用科學手段處理、解決與司法體系利益相關問題的科學，多強調與運用與事實、事件、物理標的物（例如罪案現場、屍體）相關的學術及科學方法論及理論。
所以，只要是以科學手法，在法庭上作為證供也可納入為鑑證科學的一部分。較為著名的，就是阿基米德與國王的一段故事。
阿基米德出生於古希臘，經過許多年的求學歷程後，阿基米德回到故鄉後受到國王的禮遇，經常出入宮廷，並常與國王、大臣們閒話家常或是暢談國事。有一次，國王請金匠用純金打造了一頂純金王冠，做好了以後，國王懷疑金匠不老實，可能造假摻了「銀」在裡面，但是又不能把王冠毀壞來鑑定。怎樣才能檢驗王冠是不是純金的呢？阿基米德想了好久，一直沒有好方法，吃不下飯也睡不好覺。
有一天，他在洗澡的時候發現，當他坐在浴盆裡時水位上升了，這使得他想到了：「上升了的水位正好應該等於王冠的體積，所以只要拿與王冠等重量的金子，放到水裡，測出它的體積，看看它的體積是否與王冠的體積相同，如果王冠體積更大，這就表示其中造了假，摻了銀。」
果然經過證明之後，王冠中確實含有其他雜質，阿基米德成功的揭穿了金匠的詭計，國王對他當然是更加的信服了。
