Today is our Global Presidential Primary for Democrats Abroad in Hong Kong! 🗳️ I am thrilled to see the enthusiasm and participation from our community in this crucial event. It is our chance to make our voices heard and play a vital role in selecting the next Democratic nominee for the presidential election.

I encourage all fellow Democrats living abroad to cast their ballots today and have a say in shaping the future of our country. Our input in this primary is significant, and I am hopeful for a positive turn out that reflects the diversity and strength of our community in Hong Kong.

Let's show the world that Democrats Abroad in Hong Kong are engaged and passionate about making a difference. Don't miss this opportunity to have a say in our party's future and the direction of our nation.

The Democrats Abroad Hong Kong will conduct its Global Presidential Primary on March 9, 2024, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 PM at Fini's Italian American Restaurant, located at 49 Elgin St, Central. Individuals who aren't yet members but wish to participate can register to join Democrats Abroad at the event itself and cast their vote in the Democratic primary. To be eligible to vote in the primary, participants must:

- Live outside the U.S. and hold U.S. citizenship
- Be a member of Democrats Abroad
- Be at least 18 years old by November 5, 2024
- Have not voted, nor intend to vote, in any other state's presidential primary in 2024.

Finally, the US Senate has confirmed General Charles Q Brown Jr as the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

In the U.S. alone, wildfires have devastated Maui with historic casualties, a tropical storm made landfall in California for the first time in 84 years, smoke from fires across Canada is choking U.S. cities, waters off the coast of Florida that hit 100°F degrees blanched coral reefs, global temperatures have reached record highs…and hurricane season has hardly begun.

We urge President Biden to declare a National Climate Emergency NOW under the National Emergencies Act, unlocking key statutory powers such as the Defense Production Act and the International Economic Emergency Protection Act. By this authority, we can strengthen clean energy deployment, prohibit imports of harmful climate products, halt crude oil exports by reinstating a ban that Congress lifted in 2015, and bolster climate resilience, especially in vulnerable communities.
