A group of adorable children lovingly prepared a joyful musical performance for our elderly friends🎹

This mini concert featured a variety of songs, including singing, piano, and violin 🎤🎻 Hearing these familiar tunes, the seniors couldn't help but hum along, savoring the beauty of the music 👏🏻 Every round of applause was not only encouragement for the young children's hard work, but also a beautiful moment of heartfelt companionship between generations 💕

A big thank you to the Musical Chaos Foundation for bringing the kids and seniors together for an afternoon filled with joyful melodies 🥰

【剩食背後🥫如何物盡其用🧐】
為咗減少食物浪費，米仔每日都不遺餘力遊走🚚各區食物捐贈機/箱，將大家捐出嘅剩食送往由中銀香港贊助嘅中央乾貨倉庫 - 惜食分餉站🥫

每一件食物都承載著大家嘅一份祝福，所以惜食堂團隊需要一絲不苟去檢查同記錄，務求以最專業嘅態度，嚴謹處理食物及後續嘅分配工作💪🏻

不同區域、貨架及貨籃，存放各式各樣嘅食品，每個月平均需要處理超過50噸食物‼️ 除咗「搬搬抬抬」，倉庫日常仲需要經歷以下流程：
1️⃣檢查保存狀態，確保包裝完整性📦
2️⃣檢查食用日期，確保未過期📅
3️⃣進行分類及磅重⚖️
4️⃣逐件記錄， 保持完整嘅庫存記錄📝
5️⃣移至儲放區✅

早前中銀香港義工團隊亦親身到場協助倉庫工作，過程中發現不少有趣細節，例如需要逐一辨認🔎印壓得「刁鑽」嘅食用日期，真正體驗到一份保障服務使用者健康與尊嚴嘅責任🫡

【How to Make the Most of Surplus Food🧐】
To cut down on food waste, Rice Boy goes all out every day, travelling across different districts to collect food donations from machines and boxes, then delivering all those surplus goodies to our central dry food hub – Food Station🥫 supported by Bank of China (Hong Kong).

Every single food item carries a blessing from the community, so the Food Angel team has to be meticulous in every step of the process, handling food and distribution with the utmost professionalism💪🏻

Different zones, shelves and baskets are packed with all kinds of food, and on average we process over 50 tons every month‼️Beyond the heavy lifting, there’s a whole series of steps in our warehouse operations:
1️⃣ Check food condition and whether packaging is intact 📦
2️⃣ Verify expiration dates to ensure safe consumption 📅
3️⃣ Sort and weigh the items ⚖️
4️⃣ Record each item to maintain a complete inventory log 📝
5️⃣ Move items to storage areas ✅

Earlier, a team from Bank of China (Hong Kong) came on site to lend a hand. Along the way, they discovered lots of interesting details – like having to pick out expiry dates that are ‘hidden’ in all sorts of tricky spots 🔎 Truly experienced the responsibility of protecting the health and dignity of our service users🫡

From the ‘Food Station’ that handles surplus dry food, to our "Meals on Wheels" x "Self-serve Station" service that distribute it, we are especially grateful to for their ongoing support in promoting the wise use of food resources and sustainable development, helping love reach every corner of the community 💕

In 2026, Food Angel turns 15 🥳
“15 Years of Love in Every Grain” — every grain of rice and every ingredient carries a heartfelt wish. We never take it for granted 🫶🏻

Over the past 15 years, a dedicated group of volunteers has been quietly giving their time: some carefully sort and prepare ingredients, and help with meal service; others serve rice and tea to our elderly friends; and many more handle administration and behind-the-scenes support. In different roles, everyone puts their heart into making every meal possible 🍚

We also want to express our deepest gratitude to all our food donors, sponsors, charitable partners, and to you, our supporters, who have walked alongside us. Because of all of you, we can transform rescued food into warmth, care, and nourishment for those in need 👵🏻👴🏻

Looking ahead, we’ll continue to cherish every act of kindness and spread love further 💕

【大筆一揮迎新歲 🖌️彼此祝福連連🥰】
今年搞搞新意思！米仔早前喺歲晚就搵齊所有好朋友總動員近千人，一齊大筆一揮，互送3000張揮春！一齊讓施與受同享豐盛生命🎉

米仔早早就已經備好紙筆墨硯後，同事、義工，無論大朋友定嚟到惜食堂嘅小朋友都一呼百應，即席揮毫，為老友記送上祝福之餘，米仔揮春咁靚，當然要寫多張帶返屋企，同家人分享💕

喺云云義工當中亦不乏書法好手，寫完一張接一張。仲有一位好有心嘅外籍義工，問米仔揮春係咩嚟。解釋過後，佢都覺得好有意義，即刻用英文寫咗一張，米仔幫手喺旁邊寫低翻譯，完成獨一無二嘅中英對照揮春😯

米仔早前就已經將大家嘅揮春送到老友記嘅手上，睇下佢哋幾開心😁大家嘅心意，一筆一劃，相信老友記都一一接收到，暖在心頭❤️

【A Bold Stroke to Welcome the New Year 🖌️ Blessings Shared All Around 🥰】
This year, we decided to do something a little different! In preparation of the new year, Rice Boy gathered nearly 1,000 volunteers and friends to create and exchange 3,000 fai chun, sharing blessings and enriching lives through giving and receiving 🎉

Rice Boy prepared paper, brushes, ink and inkstones, as colleagues and volunteers at Food Angel locations participated on the spot. While sending heartfelt wishes to our elderly, the fai chun turned out so beautiful that many wrote extras to bring home to share with their family 💕

Among our volunteers, there were plenty of calligraphy pros who kept going, one piece after another. We also had a very thoughtful foreign volunteer who asked what "fai chun" was. After we explained, she found it truly meaningful and immediately wrote one in English. Rice Boy added the Chinese translation beside it, creating a one-of-a-kind bilingual fai chun 😯

Earlier on, the fai chuns were delivered to our elderly friends. Just look at how happy they were 😁 Every stroke carried everyone’s heartfelt blessings, and we’re sure our elderly friends felt that warmth, right in their hearts this new year❤️
