▸ 張凱琨 Dennis Cheung｜衡建設計 Studio RYTE

香港註冊建築師，Studio RYTE 創辦人。跨領域實踐涵蓋室內、產品及家具設計，專注可持續發展與材料創新。作品獲多項國際大獎及博物館收藏。
現為港大建築系客席助理教授，從事設計教學與材料研究。

▸ 鄭智禮 Chilai Howard｜NNNNNNN.

混合媒體藝術及設計工作者，專注於實驗影像創作，空間藝術及混合媒體裝置藝術，作品曾於各國際藝術節及博物館展出及收藏。 在2010年創立NNNNNNN. 藝術設計公司，於2025年獲得紅點設計獎 Best of the Best、2024年獲得HKMA/ViuTV 及Now TV 傑出市場策劃獎 Agency of the Year， 2023年獲得第十七屆香港藝術發展獎「 藝術新秀獎（媒體藝術）」等多項國際殊榮。

Aron Tsang and Wesley Ho co-founded Napp Studio & Architects in 2016 and both serve as directors of Napp Studio. Their cross-disciplinary work spans architecture, interiors, exhibitions, furniture, and product design. Aron is a Registered Architect, Adjunct Assistant Professor at HKU, and Lead Curator of the 2025 Hong Kong-Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale. Wesley is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at HKU and was named a Tatler Gen.T Leader of Tomorrow in 2024.

▸Dennis Cheung ｜ Studio RYTE
Dennis Cheung is a Hong Kong-registered architect and founder of Studio RYTE, a multidisciplinary practice spanning interiors, product, and furniture design with a focus on sustainability. His work has received Architizer A+, AIA Sustainability, Dezeen, and Salone Satellite Awards, and is held in the SaloneSatellite Permanent Collection and M+ Museum. He is Adjunct Assistant Professor at HKU.

▸Chilai Howard ｜ NNNNNNN.
Chilai Howard is a mixed-media artist and designer focused on experimental moving images, spatial art, and mixed-media installations. His works have been exhibited in Tate Modern, ZKM, and MOCA Taipei. He founded the award-winning creative studio NNNNNNN. in 2010, and received Best of the Best from Red Dot Design Award (2025), Agency of the Year from the The HKMA/ViuTV & Now TV Awards for Marketing Excellence (2024), Award for Young Artist (Media Arts) from the 17th Hong Kong Arts Devel-opment Awards (2023) and more.

【PMQ繪本館「START FROM HERE」活動招募｜本地繪本作家劉紹增與繪本的變身魔法✨】

PMQ繪本館與本地設計師及繪本作家劉紹增共同策劃的展覽 ——「繪本變形記」，活動現已接受報名！跨暑假，三場創意體驗，帶你從一張紙玩到立體書本，再深入繪本的海外觀察與本地對話。

1) 一張紙造一本書：手工書工作坊

一張白紙，左一翻右一摺，這裏加一點那邊畫一畫，轉眼變成一本迷你小繪本！究竟，是故事轉入了摺紙的迷宮? 抑或，因為紙的世界給反轉了，故事就會跑出來? 「一張紙造一本書」工作坊，不單可以發展小朋友對書的想象和興趣，也是刺激空間智能、激發敍事能力的創意活動。歡迎4-9歲小朋友一起來，用手上的白紙，造出屬於自己的第一本小書。

手動就是心動。立體繪本的魅力，不只在三維度的視覺驚喜，更在那一種可以觸碰、可以互動的現場感。這次立體書工作坊準備了簡易好上手的pop-up紙樣，讓你輕鬆完成一頁頁基本的故事情節。從立體頁面出發——由你親自設計、策劃一幕幕「手動故事遊戲」，讓讀者不只閱讀，更能參與其中。歡迎大小朋友一起來創作一本會動、會彈、會互動的書。

3) 書頁之間的對話：繪本聊天室

世界各地近來對繪本的關注度確實不斷在提升。然而，將繪本作為一種藝術去認真看待和討論的文章或者書籍，似乎仍只有在海外出現。這次聊天室，駐場作者劉紹增就邀請了對於圖象敍事和兒童文學素有研究，亦是熱心收集繪本的學者陳芷盈博士，談一下她和繪本之間的因緣，以及交流一些各自的珍藏和個人觀察。聊天室將以對談形式圍繞繪本的閱讀經驗展開對話，同時歡迎參加者參予分享和討論。

【PMQ Picture Book Library "START FROM HERE" Programme Recruitment! Local picture book creator Benny Lau and the metamorphosis of picture books】

Co-created with local designers and picture book creator Benny Lau, the PMQ Picture Book Library’s “PICTURE BⓄⓞ🅞ⓞⓄKS” programme is now open for recruitment. This summer, Benny will host three activities—sharing sessions and hands-on workshops—guiding you to make an interactive pop-up book from a single sheet of paper, and sharing his overseas observations through discussions with local picture book experts.

All activities are on a first-come, first-served basis, don’t miss the chance! 👀

1) Paper to Book: Hand-made Book Workshop

A blank sheet of paper—fold it left, crease it right, add a dot here, draw a little there. Before you know it, you can turn nothing into a tiny miniature picture book. Has the story wandered into a maze of origami? Or, once the world of paper is turned inside out, does the story come running out?“Paper to Book” workshop helps children develop their imagination and build an early interest in books. It also provides a hands-on creative activity that strengthens spatial thinking and storytelling skills. Children ages 4–8 are welcome to join us and create their very first little book from a blank page.

2) Story Sculpting Workshop
The charm of pop-up picture books lies not only in their three-dimensional visual delight, but also in the tangible, interactive sense of presence they create. In this pop-up book workshop, you will use pop-up paper templates to build simple storylines page by page. Starting from these three-dimensional pages, you will design and plan your own hands-on story games. Readers are invited not only to read but also to actively participate in the journey of storytelling. Adults are welcome to join and create a book that moves, pops, and invites interaction.

Picture books are becoming increasingly popular around the world. However, articles and books that thoughtfully and seriously treat picture books as an art form still seem to appear mostly beyond our region.
In this chat room, picture book creator Benny Lau welcomes Professor Michelle Chan, a scholar long dedicated to visual narrative and children’s literature, and an avid collector of picture books. Together, they will explore their personal connection to picture books and share their private collections.
The event will be an open conversation centred on personal reading experiences with fellow book lovers. Participants are also warmly invited to join the discussion and share their insights.

【預告 - PMQ繪本館「START FROM HERE」第二彈 —— 「繪本變形記」】

說故事，是否只靠文字？紙張與翻頁之間，會否也蘊藏著自身的詩意？

繪本既是故事的載體也可以是不斷變身的敘事形式繪本結合了圖畫和文字，固然有其獨特又富感染力的敘事能力。但同時，也有不少創作者對繪本的「物質性」充滿好奇，關注它作為一本書的存在感。

書本的尺度與形狀，如何影響讀者的第一印象？裝訂方式如何塑造閱讀時的節奏與空間感？紙張的質地，又會否改變讀者的心理感受？當這些設計細節被有意識地編織進故事之中，繪本不再只是承載內容的容器，而成為體驗本身——一次又一次與讀者相遇的別開生面經歷。

作為設計師和創意教育工作者，我之所以著迷於繪本，除了插畫與故事的魅力，更在於書籍本身的美學細節，以及它在「閱讀」與「使用」之間展開的可能性。在繪本的世界裡，圖像不僅是具象描繪，也容許抽象表達與各種嶄新的視覺實驗。

舉例，pop-up 書便在圖像與摺紙工藝的結合下，創造出立體而富動感的藝術效果。若再從物件或產品設計的角度出發，繪本的應用潛力同樣值得細味——它可以是說故事的立體小劇場，是整合資訊的桌上微型展覽，甚至是一件引領孩子進入遊戲世界的道具或指南。

Does storytelling depend solely on words? Or might there be a kind of poetry hidden in the space between pages, and in the simple act of turning them?

Picture books are not merely vessels for stories; they are narrative forms in constant transformation. Through the interplay of image and text, they offer a distinctive and compelling storytelling language. At the same time, many creators are deeply intrigued by the materiality of picture books, exploring their presence as physical objects in their own right.

How do a book’s size and format shape a reader’s first impression? In what ways does binding influence the rhythm and spatial experience of reading? Can the texture of paper subtly shift emotional response? When such design elements are thoughtfully woven into the narrative, the picture book moves beyond being a container of content and becomes the experience itself, offering a singular encounter each time it is opened.

As a designer and creative educator, my fascination with picture books lies not only in their illustrations and stories, but also in the aesthetic details of the book as object, and in the possibilities that unfold between reading and using. In the realm of picture books, images are not simply representational; they invite abstraction, experimentation, and new visual languages.
Pop-up books, for example, merge imagery with paper engineering to create dynamic, three-dimensional worlds. From the perspective of object and product design, picture books hold even broader potential. They can function as miniature theatrical stages, compact tabletop exhibitions, or interactive tools that guide children into imaginative play.
