【重新想像，守護海洋🌊】

每年6月8日係「世界海洋日」，今年嘅主題係「重新想像」✨，隨住聯合國《國家管轄範圍以外區域海洋生物多樣性協定》正式生效，全球正迎接海洋保育嘅新里程；我哋唔再只係被動咁接受海洋無私嘅饋贈，而係要蛻變為積極守護海洋未來嘅捍衛者💪。

要守護海洋，首先要了解佢深藏的奧祕。雖然我哋唔係住喺海洋入面，但其實海洋同我哋息息相關，甚至超乎想像咁親近💕！例如香港浸會大學生物系邱建文教授團隊，近年就喺同大海潮汐相通嘅米埔基圍蝦塘🦐發現新嘅箱形水母物種！證明即使喺本地水域，依然有無數未知嘅海洋生命等待我哋去發掘！

【Protect the ocean🌊with reimagination】

Every year on 8th June, we celebrate World Oceans Day, and this year’s theme is “Reimagine” ✨! With the entry into force of the UN’s Agreement on Marine Biological Diversity of Areas beyond National Jurisdiction, we are no longer just passive inheritors of the ocean’s resources, but its active guardians 💪!

To protect the ocean, we must first understand the secrets hidden deep within it. Although we do not live in the ocean, its relationship with humans is closer than we expect💕! For instance, Professor Qiu Jianwen’s team from the Department of Biology at Hong Kong Baptist University discovered a new box jellyfish species in Mai Po’s 𝘎𝘦𝘪 𝘞𝘢𝘪 brackish shrimp ponds 🦐, which are connected to the ocean’s tides. This shows that even in our local waters, there are still countless unknown marine lives waiting for us to discover!

香港科學館將於明日（六月五日）重新開放。科學館因展覽廳的冷氣系統需緊急維修而於六月三日下午暫停開放。

The Hong Kong Science Museum will reopen tomorrow (June 5). The museum was temporarily closed on June 3 afternoon for carrying out urgent repair of the air conditioning system of the Exhibition Hall.

【Event Highlights: “Eco-Travel with Zheng He” Science Lecture】

If you have already visited the “Wildlife Photographer of the Year” and enjoyed ecological photography works from around the world but still want more, then you should join this Science Lecture to see how local photographer capture nature through lenses.

This lecture invites Mr. SEE Chun-lung, Gomen, Marine Science Programme Manager at the Hong Kong Maritime Museum, to guide us along the maritime routes of Zheng He’s voyages during the Ming Dynasty, exploring the natural ecology of Vietnam, Sri Lanka, and Kenya. Mr. See is an ecology educator and an award-winning photographer 🏆📸. He will take us to retrace Zheng He’s voyages ⛵ from the perspectives of photography 🎥, ecology 🐢, and conservation 🦅!

To echo the special exhibition “Wildlife Photographer of the Year” currently on display at the Hong Kong Science Museum, we warmly invite all primary and secondary school students in Hong Kong to join the “Nature Snap” Wildlife Photo Collection Campaign. Whether you are using a camera or a smartphone, you are encouraged to discover the biodiversity hidden behind our vibrant city and capture the beauty of Hong Kong’s local ecology.🌱🦋🐦

This campaign encourages students to step into nature 🌳, and learn more about Hong Kong’s rich ecological resources through observation and the art of photography. Selected entries will have the chance to be showcased digitally at the Hong Kong Science Museum! Let’s share your view of natural ecology with the public.

🏫 Participants must be Hong Kong students from Primary 1 to Secondary 6, and be nominated by their schools.

【非遺實驗班：博古知「金」】

西金工匠嘅巧手技藝，猶如金飾上嘅閃閃金光，同樣經得起時間考驗，光芒不減✨。首飾製作技藝，又稱「打金」，係香港非物質文化遺產項目之一。為響應「香港非遺月2026」，我哋特別推出非遺實驗班，畀大朋友體驗首飾製作📿。活動邀請到周生生貴金屬化驗所導師親自指導，參加者只需運用簡單嘅工具同銅線，就可以親手製作獨一無二嘅飾品。透過「電鍍魔法」，仲可以體驗「點銅成金」嘅神奇過程。

歡迎大朋友踴躍報名，一齊嚟「博古知『金』」，探索金嘅特性，體驗廣泛應用喺金飾業嘅電鍍技術，從中發掘背後嘅科學原理！

【ICH Experiment: Journey into Golden Jewellery】

The exquisite craftsmanship of karat gold artisans, much like the shimmering light on a piece of gold jewellery, continues to shine brilliantly over time✨. Jewellery Making Technique, also known as “goldsmithing”, is one of the items in the Intangible Cultural Heritage inventory of Hong Kong. In support of “Hong Kong ICH Month 2026”, we are launching an ICH laboratory class specially designed for grown-up friends to experience jewellery 📿making firsthand. Guided by instructors from the Chow Sang Sang Precious Metal Laboratory, participants will use simple tools and copper wire to craft their own unique piece of jewellery. Through the “magic of electroplating”, participants can even experience the fascinating process of “turning copper into gold”.

We welcome all grown-up friends to sign up for “Journey into Golden Jewellery”. Come explore the properties of gold, experience the electroplating technique widely used in the gold jewellery industry, and uncover the science behind it!

[ #航天探索] 神舟二十三號載人飛船發射

神舟二十三號載人飛船預計將於聽晚（5月24日）11時08分，由長征二號F運載火箭搭載發射。

是次發射將有香港載荷專家首次隨神舟飛船升空參與飛行任務，意義非凡！

屆時中央廣播電視總台將全程播放，大家到時記得密切留意，共同見證國家在航天科技領域的卓越發展與輝煌成就！

The Shenzhou-23 manned spacecraft, along with the Long March-2F rocket, will launch at 11:08 pm tomorrow night (24 May).

It’s the first time for a Hong Kong payload expert to go aboard the Shenzhou spacecraft and take part in a spaceflight mission. This is a remarkable milestone!
